This wording has long irritated me from various sources about various people. There is ~a~ A.F./Army/Navy/Marine band, and ~THE~ A.F./Army/Navy/Marine Band. They are not the same.

I had a co-worker who went through college on a band scholarship. He said their entire trumpet section used STP as a slide lubricant.

I can’t imagine that working unless they thinned it out with some other oil. STP is as thick and stringy as honey.

It did work well. The drop of red colored solution was thinner than my UltraPure oil.

Agreed. The rounded wrap component is more related to the textures delivered by a keyed instrument. Here is Claudio Roditi playing the keyed flugelhorn that I feel gives a very similar tonal delivery

The Pukaea sound has somewhat of a “woody” character to it. I don’t think that is sound that Sousa was striving for, but I will give it a try. If it works out I’ll come down and rejoin the Florida Keys Concert Band on the Liberty Bell if I can play the First Pukaea Part.

@administrator It's just an alto horn in French horn shape with a trumpet shank receiver and right-handed.
