I love old Olds horns and have 2 L.A. Ambassadors , one of which has the fastest valves of any horn I own. I think it’s worth noting, and certainly a testament to the quality of the Olds product, that the valve section on Uan Raseys Olds horn was the one used in the Ambassador. Robb Stewarts website has a page dedicated to Uan - it’s worth a read. As I understood it, Olds was a “one tolerance” shop, which means all their instruments were made to the same tolerance specs regardless of price. That’s pretty incredible.

Another option to consider is High Frequency Chest Wall Oscillation, which is done with a device attached to a wearable vest. This can loosen otherwise adherent mucous secretions, allowing them to be expelled by coughing.
A summary of results is attached. A discussion with your pulmonologist should determine whether it would be a useful treatment modality for you. The downside is that it is more expensive than the average trumpet (maybe even as expensive as a high end boutique model), but the upside is that insurance often covers it, unlike the boutique trumpet.

I have two right now - an Ed/D Ambassador trumpet and an L-12 flugelhorn. I’ve owned two Ambassador Bb trumpets and one Ambassador cornet in the past, and none of them really impressed me. The only reason I kept the Eb/D Ambassador and the L-12 flugelhorn is that although I rarely have the need for either, it’s nice to have them available when the opportunity arises that I do need one. I don’t have much money tied up in either one, so I’m happy to let them sit in the closet most of the time.

I think it would be an interesting instrument to try to learn. Not quite a bass trumpet and not quite a standard Bb trumpet.

It is easy to believe we are simply tolerated and downtrodden when we face persecution in society but never forget we are the artists we are the brilliant stars that audiences love and worship.

These rules and restrictions that we must endure are nothing but a trivial bother like the buzzing of insects around us.

I believe the stature of a person is measured by the things that upset them.

Let us simply laugh at such trivial nonsense from Disney and from others, we are above such mundane rubbish and deal with it with the scorn it deserves.

The BEST trigger option is no trigger: My Martin Committee has the slide eliminated as it is not needed as intonation is pitch perfect without it.

Then next easiest feature is then the Olds trigger slide concept. So easy to use, and so ergonomically friendly.

I hasten to say I am not a doctor, and I am not a sufferer of this condition.

I have a great deal of experience in golf and in music among other things and I suspect I may be seeing a correlation with a condition that professional golfers can suffer called the Yips.

This is a condition brought on by high levels of stress in a professional setting typically while putting in a highly pressured situation such as holing a putt that would decide the outcome of a match.

One single putt can be worth tens of thousands of dollars if it is sunk. This is immense pressure to succeed and is the root cause of the condition.

The sufferer suffers a spasm that makes controlled playing impossible and the putt often ends in a hazard.

This is a very real condition and almost without exception has ended the careers of many top money earners.

Bernhard Langer became a sufferer and after many years managed to control the condition and play golf professionally once again.

If there is a link perhaps Bernhards experiences and how he overcame the problem might prove to be helpful.

Perhaps this is worth exploring.

For all sufferers of this condition I hope you can find a way forward. I would hate to be a fellow sufferer of such a debilitating condition.
