    • Vintage Horn Eye Candy

One of the threads I miss most from the old site. Here is a 1870s Boston Orchestra model SARV with original case and A slide. The horn plays absolutely great.

    • Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everybody, i was able to play a little trumpet at church this Christmas so I thought I would share. Hoping next Christmas comes with more live music (&trumpets) than we've seen in years. Trumpet starts at 34:30, o holy night & joy to the world.

    • Vintage Bach Club

Well how about a club for vintage Bach owners/fans, they are the greatest trumpets ever made after all. 😜 So what Bach model do you have and why do you like it (or hate it).

My first serious horn was a Bach 72* and in college I traded it in on a 65GH Vindabona. More recently I have become a big fan of the M bore Bach horns. Here is my 1950 NY M bore 38 bell. It has that Bach sound and the thing plays itself, almost. aNY Bach.jpg

    • RE: How do you feel about vibrato?

Relating to jazz trumpet here is an interview in which Clifford Brown is asked about the lack of vibrato in "modern" playing. That question is at about 1:40.

    • Conn 2b Gold Plate

2B.jpg I decided to sell one of my more special horns, 1926 gold plated Conn 2b, fully engraved bell along with case kit & mouthpiece. There is some wear from play and age but surprisingly the gold is almost totally intact, horn plays great. I can send a bunch of pics and more details if interested. I'll probably put it up a couple other places in a few days but thought I'd put it up here first. Asking $825 incl US shipping. Thanks!

    • RE: Bach Symphonic Mouthpieces

I play a Bach 1 1/2 with 117 backbore on my C trumpet and works great for me, I also have and used a Bach 1 1/2 with 24 backbore on C and it is very good as well. For years I used a Bach 1 1/2 with a 7 backbore for Bb and C trumpet and was really struggling with endurance on it as I started playing less trumpet. I have tried a stock Bach 1 1/2 as well but I think at this point I am used to a bigger backbore.
For Bb the last couple years I started using a ACB MV 3C. It feels very much like a Bach 1 1/2 to me and has a little bigger backbore than stock, just feels a little easier to play than my 1/ 1/2 and sounds great on the Bb imo.

    • RE: What is this Conn? Should I purchase?

Looks like a 22b, "early model". Looks a little banged up and leapipe looks crooked from the shown angle. If it plays good maybe make an offer.
