@Curlydoc said in What are you listening to?:
Kind of Blue, legacy album. Amazing!
Curly, what makes it different from the original, the sound?
-
@Kehaulani , more tunes. Got it on iTunes. I know some will criticize the poor reproduction on downloaded music, but with partial hearing loss and constant tinnitus, it is just fine for me.

Not to brag (well maybe a little), but just saw this discussion on a drummer's Facebook post that scored a live recording of a concert I played with an internationally known violinist at a concert in Dayton a couple years ago. But the drummer was just listening to it now so is true to the thread:

Here is a pic of that band on that evening:

This is JUST AMAZING:

Holy heck, that sure is convincing.

Just listening to a snip from out gig on Thursday. This is a cut from "Moon Dance". That is me on flugelhorn.

Fantastic, Doc. You have a nice sound on the flugel. Excellent improvisation without straying too much from the melody, too.

Sara Niemietz with Snuffy Waldon or Post Modern Jukebox. This lady has so much fun singing, it is contagious. Inspirational!

Back to lots of metal.
The bands I was formerly involved with have turns communist. Either with looking for covid immunity proof or on board with CRT.
Obituary never let me down and Max Cavalera got some great new music.
Down with the Marxist machine that is taking over! -
The Generations Big Band from our Halloween gig last evening. I am the one in the pumpkin suit: Sledgehammer

I'm not doing anything trumpet-related these days, but I've been learning the organ -- very, very slowly!

@dr-go
Nice band, Doc. Looks to be about the same size, with a similar mix of ages as the band I play with.
I envy you, though, because we are still only practicing, not entertaining.
I miss an audience, especially when they are dancing. I did so much of that kind of entertaining during the 50s and 60s.

Maurice... both "Toot Suite" and the Philly/Riccardo Muti CD.
(By the way, we will perform Toot Suite in 2023 in Germany, details are still on the air.)

I thought this was a nice ensemble:
-
Ripe, Miles & Monk at Newport, The Jihye Lee Jazz Orchestra, and the new Phat Band EP, “The Reset.” I’m going to see them this weekend at Yoshi’s.

Just got this chart in my big band we rehearsed last Thursday and playing this Thursday for our first public performance with this piece:

Great arrangement.
