Besson enharmonic trumpet from a local dealers private collection.
      Apparently quite rare.
Unfortunately he has no mouthpiece that adequately fits

    • RE: Hello! Welcome to TB, who are you?

I’m Dennis, I’m a father of 3, a happy husband and loyal employee of the company I work for. I’ve been an electrician for 20 years. Been playing trumpet for 32 years.
Dabbled in rock bands a couple times playing bass.
Nowadays I also play baritone, actually more so than trumpet. I also played cornet for a couple years
I also enjoy kayaking and fishing
I used to be into guns but not anymore
I still pick a flattop now and again
And enjoy gardening, foraging and practice of all types of self sustainability

    • RE: Turning Guns into Trumpets

Hell I got some guns I would trade. I loved my guns in my 20’s and early 30’s. Now in my 40’s I’ve just lost the zeal I once had. I’d actually rather have a Jinbao than some of my guns. Hell I can leave all my trumpets loaded

My long and short Holton New Proportions cornets
Top is a 1909. My favorite cornet of all I have. The pitch slide leaks, you’re seeing the candle wax I use to keep it playable
Bottom is a 1911 Couturier model. I really enjoy this as well

My 1958 Holton B47. In raw brass. My main use trumpet. Have tried many many new and used trumpets but no temptation to buy as this horn really does anything I need

    • RE: Not really a "mouthpiece safari" but the need for a "saving grace" type of mouthpiece...

I’m not a mouthpiece guru or anything like that or even a good amateur but I do play in a few bands and play more than one brass instrument
      I’ve played a 10 1/2c and a Schilke 14A4 and a so called cushion rim mouthpiece.
I found that endurance is easier on a bigger diameter/cup dimension and a more open throat. I think really good breathing and relaxing go way further in endurance and range than any shape or size mouthpiece.
Another thing I’ve been guilty of the sops up energy and kills range is holding back. Really blow and be heard. Your trumpet is not as loud in front of it 4 yards out as it is to you behind the bell 19”-20”.
Kinda like playing a guitar gig. You gotta move your amp away from you to really hear yourself but you can’t move your horn so.....
You gotta relax and breathe and blow

And back into playing bass guitar

      Back to lots of metal.
The bands I was formerly involved with have turns communist. Either with looking for covid immunity proof or on board with CRT.
Obituary never let me down and Max Cavalera got some great new music.
Down with the Marxist machine that is taking over!
