Sure hope we do not have this sort of thread. I did a site search first, but may have missed it...

Anyway, I subscribe to Pandora internet radio. I also enjoy good concert band music. One of my favorite stations is The U.S. Army Concert Band Radio. Am listening to it right now - good stuff, if you like this sort of thing!

What am I listening to? Actually, you caught me on a Hawai'i nostalgia night. I'm listening to the family band, Kapena.

I can never get enough of Bobby Hackett. Here is a youtube of a cut from one of my albums : Fools Rush In. Playing with an organ was a nice touch.

George, I’m a Bobby Hackett fan too!

This morning I thought I’d mess around a little with Amazon Music, which comes with our Prime membership. The content available is nearly overwhelming! Am listening to the Swing Jazz Station right now. More good stuff!

Wow, Martin Denny!? I didn't think anybody remembered Martin Denny. Use to see him when I was a tween.

A vibraphonist with Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman was a good jazz player, too.

Probably the best Hammond B3 solo in history on this song AND the organ percussion heading into the post solo, just amazing then the chordal bends... just amazing.

The organ can be a great asset to a song when it is used properly with other instruments. The video I posted of Bobby Hackett's Fools Rush In earlier is one song from an album called Dream Awhile that features Johnny Seng on the Wurlitzer Pipe Organ with Bobby on each cut and it is a delightful album I have played many times.

Lake Street Dive ((I think mainly New England Conservatory alumni). Often without a chording instrument, which makes for a unique texture.
Not to take anything away from anybody in this band, but the bass player is a monster.

There are some unbelievable musical performances available online these days. It is so inspiring to listen to them. But never underestimate the positive power of your own playing, no matter at what level. There is great therapeutic benefit in playing (rather than just listening to) music, especially if you are "giving" your music to some significant other - mother, sibling, spouse, child or care worker. My message to you all is "Please Play"!

Listening to a whole lot of satellite radio - some good on demand shows as well as the jazz stations I normally listen to on my commute. I’ve been doing some French horn dent work, and I like disco and funk for that! Bell throat dents need some repetitive motion, and it works well for that 😁

I heard/saw Bernstein's Mass today on PBS with Marin Alsop conducting, the NY Phil and a host of others. Thank God we've got something supporting the Arts in America.

I really could've used other production values, but it was at Ravinia and the cast was from there also, so you make do with what you've got. Nevertheless, it was world class and the Celebrant was outstanding, not to mention Bernstein's creativity.

This is Brazilian baritone Paulo Szot playing the Celebrant and singing Leonard Bernstein’s “A Simple Song from the Mass.”
