Horn arrangements are just such a perfect rendition of that Chicago Sound. The percussion section also has the Chicago vibe. The keyboard and guitar however just does not duplicate the same energy as the original group.
Arturo on the solo was a real treat. The horn he is using is the Harrelson he brought to the Master Class I attended a few years ago.

This was my personal experience when I started out. I started on the 7c, but my band director had a 10.5 that I tried, and for me the 10.5 was the keeper. Even today, my go to size are still the smaller rim diameter pieces, like my Jettone Studio B and my Kanstul G2. Albeit, I do like the larger diameters on my Flugelhorn, and us a 3C for that horn.

@Dr-GO Ah! So was it too loose? If so, then what he did was knurl it, which raises the surface just a bit. Engine builders do this to pistons sometime to help them retain oil on the skirts.

Yes. Too loose. Glad you could interpret what Gary did to it by the picture. It now fits snug and works great!

No experience with Legends Brass, but I do believe the Kanstal brother that handles their mouthpieces still has mouthpieces in stock. I would search for him on Google and see if he has a G2.
I also know that Jason Harrelson took a copy of my G2 when I was out to Denver to meet with him about getting a 5 mm version. While 5 mm's are expensive, perhaps Jason could turn around a standard mouthpiece at a more reasonable price with the copy he has of mine. It's worth the effort to give this a try. It is an amazing mouthpiece and exact replica of the Gustat Heim used by Miles.

Interesting-was it sticky? Are you referring to the inner bore of the outer slide or the internal bore? Cutting grooves in it would reduce surface area thus reducing friction.

I had a slide issue with my Kanstul flugelhorn. I took it to my favorite local instrument tech and he did a machining technique (the inner bore looks tractor like tire tracks) but it works GREAT! AND it can harvest a row of corn!

To me it's not a for sure choice; however, populations fall on a standard deviation and the closer a mouth piece is to the middle of that distribution, the more people will find a truly usable mouthpiece. So the odds of the 7C working are the highest. Sometimes, we can use statistics to our advantage.
