@oldschooleuph said in 1963 Martin Committee Medium Bore #2 Bb Trumpet:

Back when these were built, lacquer would certainly play different than raw brass, plating shouldn't have any effect (see the Schilke paper in the surviving loyalist material)...

Not so sure about this. Back in the vintage days of Committee's, the lead level in brass was quit high and then the Federal Government placed regulation to remove lead from brass alloy in 1953. So it may be as well the lead content of brass that had some impact on play quality of late 40's Committee.

Here is another article on prevalence of tinnitus in musicians, based on instruments they play. Wind instruments take the biggest hit.

That's interesting because I've read the opposite. Matter of fact, he spent most of his practice time womanizing and drinking.

    • RE: appearances vs practice

Instead of saying Teeee or Taaaa, say Ooooooo (as in Dr. GOoooooo). That will get an easier approach to getting lower notes.

Lower notes require more open embouchure. So you will need to relax the lower jaw and open the throat more to adjust to producing more airflow.

I thought this was such an amazing story of a 12 year old that has serenaded many health care workers and patients during the pandemic, and find it amazingly gratifying that he has been given the chance to represent trumpet players in the inauguration.

      Jerico answered it.
And BTW, plese note that, while there were many players playing the Committee, in a certain era. very few play them now.

Not sure I would agree. Chris Botti is of course the most well known performer playing on this horn currently. Art Farmer plays this horn, I know several professional musicians in several cities around the country that play this horn. Mr. Ortez, one of our members that plays with Santana, plays this horn. I play most of my small ensemble gigs with this horn (big band gigs with my Harrelson). Of interest, when I played with Allen Vizzutti he confided in me that this was his horn he play in his youth before being a Yamaha artist.
