@Dr-GO At the risk of him not talking to me again, I second your nomination. Sorry Stuart

RE: Covid-19 Closing Down Music Venues
@ROWUK TJCombo's observations and comments are spot-on. In Australia we addressed the crisis early on and Governments, both Federal and State listened to and acted on the Medical/Scientific advice offered, from a non partisan political perspective. We are now reaping the benefits of that approach. Further, almost without exception, we have understood that the notion of "individual rights" does not out-Trump, sorry, the concept of the greater good. We have understood that individual sacrifices, while unpleasant, are a necessary, short term price to pay. The great pity is that not all leaders have acted in the same manner and that their countries are now paying the price.
Hopefully we are now seeing the "beginning of the end".

RE: Company Timelines (Besson, Diston-Keefer, Frank Holton, Vincent Bach)
@OldSchoolEuph A quick vote of thanks to OldSchoolEuph for posting this info and to all those members who have offer informed thoughts and commentary.
It's this type of posting that drew me TH and the late lamented TM in the first instance. I would not deny that there is room for this type of information and social intercourse, however I would suggest that the more learned material that is posted, the greater the possibility for the site to attract a wider membership base.Just my thoughts, there I've said it.

RE: New Player has entered the Game
@Kehaulani Just how wide spread cornets are on continental Europe are I don't know, but there is a clip of the Stavanger Brass Band on the net, playing Elgar's Nimrod, amongs't other things. They have a spread of brass instruments, cornets, trumpets and flugelhorn. Maybe indicative, then again maybe not.

RE: Community Band
@Newell-Post Rehearsals for both Community Bands I belong to have been cancelled for 4 weeks, minimum, as well as 3 scheduled performances. I suspect 4 weeks cancellation is just the beginning.

RE: Daily Goodwill Goodies
@barliman2001 Again, no issues with my connecting.

RE: Boorish Band Behavior
@Comeback I always knew there was virtue in sitting in the third chair.

RE: YouTube Suggestion
@Kehaulani Check her out playing "I fall in love" with Scott Hamilton. Just wonderful.

RE: YouTube Suggestion
@J-Jericho Sant Andreau have some great clips. They rather put my playing into perspective.

RE: How many of you taught yourself to play?
@Rapier232 Man, this replicates my personal experience to T. Came to the horn relatively late in life, bit the bullet and bought a trumpet and Tune a Day book and persevered. I could neither justify or afford the cost of lessons, so did it the hard, very hard way. They say it is character building! That said, the sense of personal achievement in doing it myself and then joining 2 Community Bands, is something I will always carry with me. Would I recommend it? Absolutely not. Then again, the realisation you have achieved something personally significant cannot be replaced.

RE: D is for Dynamics from TrumpetAtoZ by Brain Davis
@Kehaulani May be urban myth, but in one of the biographies on Louis Armstrong it was written that Armstrong thought pp meant puff plenty!

RE: King Liberty
@Niner I wondered the same thing myself. I have a Liberty 2B and it ain't no Peashooter. Now my Buescher 230 on the other hand...

RE: And the show goes on
@Niner What a co-incidence. Never heard of them until yesterday, when someone here in Oz pulled out one of their C.D's. Not my musical preference, but each to their own.

Mystery Horn
On our local Gumtree site there is a trumpet listed, with no identification other than having an elaborate 'B' etched on the bell and the letters U.S.A. immediately beneath the "B". This is not something I am interested in, but I am curious as to it's origin and if anyone can identify the horn from the scant info provided.

RE: Holton clarification
@djeffers78 Thanks to all those how shared their knowledge with me. Flipped the horn last week along with a Getzen 90 Deluxe and have invested in another Holton, this time a T101 B Symphony. This one is almost certainly a "keeper".

RE: Holton clarification
@Lud14
Your bell says more than mine! It is only inscribed Holton. Country of origin is not a big issue, as long as it is neither China or India. -
RE: Holton clarification
@Dr-Mark Thanks for the clarification. I bought the horn to "clean and flip", at least thats what I told my wife!
Only paid AUD$75.00, about USD$50.00 by current exchange rates, for a horn in quite exceptional condition. Will probably move it on and put the funds to better (trumpet) use.

Holton clarification
Hoping someone can help.
On a whim I recently bought a Holton T602R. Received wisdom has it that a letter after the model number indicates it is made overseas, and that if it is a stencil made by Yamaha, the word Japan appears on the second valve barrel. There is no C of O name on the valve block and the horn's "medallion" just says Holton U.S.A. The only text on the bell is Holton. The serial number is 043xxx.
I suspect, but cannot confirm that it may be made in China. Any thoughts.
