Actually it was made by Blessing, in Elkhart, Indiana, and people who are in the know have told me that it was equivalent to the Super Artist model. I just donated it last June to a school district in Western Idaho for some youngster to learn on as well.

RE: Some Of Your Favorite Trumpet Gals
Very nice, George.
Here is a favorite of mine, and I am not sure how I came upon her music, but she is one of, if not the most Famous trumpet players in Norway. Her name is Tine ( Tee-nah ) Thing ( ting ) Helseth. By the way, I probably have more Norwegian blood in me than many of the performers you will see in any of her videos, just saying....haha, it does have a lot to do with why I like her. Her effortless style and beautiful tone have a lot to do with it, for sure.
It is also to be noted that I picked one where she plays one of Edvard Greig's composition, appropriately.

Administrator: I couldn’t do a message to you in the normal way, so this is why I tell you here.
I just got an email from GeorgeB. He says he is locked out and cannot log in or anything. I had a similar problem but it worked itself out somehow. Could you please see if you can help him with that

HNY Wayne, wonder if this is an electronic or ear issue? Thought I’d share my “one weird trick” story in case it helps.
A few years back, I acquired my first C trumpet and couldn’t believe how bad its intonation. Swapped back and forth between C and regular Bb horn in practice and the new horn didn’t seem to improve.
I can’t remember why, but I played few tunes on the Bb, reading from a Bb Real Book, then played the same tunes on the C horn, reading from the C Real Book and for some strange reason the intonation issues stopped. It was like something in my tiny mind switched - either that or some musical elves tweaked the C trumpet.Cheers
tjInteresting, but definitely not what happened to me. As soon as I switched to a YouTube recording it was spot on.
Also, in answer to Steve, I haven’t been using the AirPods when using the silent brass device.
It was so strange because I have been playing with this setup for close to 20 years and nothing with the pitch changing has ever happened.
Once I quit Apple Music and restarted the computer it corrected itself. -

People that say "on today" instead of just saying "today."
That's like everyone on TV who says "tuna-fish sandwich".
What other kind of animal would "tuna" be other than "fish".
No other kind of fish is called "xxxx-fish".
New Yorkers who say "standing on line" instead of "standing in line".
People on TV who keep saying "I was laying down" when they mean "I was lying down".
People on TV who say "I'll drive further" when they mean "I'll drive farther."
People on TV who say "mis-CHEE-vee-us" when ther is no extra "i" in the word to
justify that pronunciation.People on TV who say "conversate" instead of "converse".
Wow.
Only 9,980 pet peeves to go...moshe
I get what you mean about Tuna, but there are other "fish" you may not have thought of.........Swordfish, sailfish, codfish, cuddlefish, jellyfish, goldfish, redfish, bluefish. Like when people say, Pizza Pie. Certainly. It’s not pizza cake, and Pizza means pie in Italian.
Also, I always hear people say, "Chinese Take-out" as if it’s one word. Maybe it’s just that on the east coast, people sometimes have Chinese food named eat it in the restaurant.
People say, Real-i-tor, rather than Real-tor.
That’s enough for now.... -

How about Java, by Al Hirt?
He really had some chops. I am not saying he necessarily needed his full arsenal on Java, but it really put him into the popular mainstream -

When I started my comeback, I had prescription glasses made just for music. The big drawback, is that i couldn't see the conductor very well, looking away from the stand gave me a headache. Stricly reading music ( practice at home) was great.
In the end, my regular precripton byfocals ended up working out best.G.
Thanks. I think I will check into that. Lucky for me, I don’t really pay that much attention to the conductor....just kidding -

Isn’t it great that we have 50 entirely different states, none of which represents the country in and of themselves?
Wasn't it 57 states in the previous administration?
I don’t know about that, but I forgot that 49 States are in agreement on one thing: all 49 hate New Jersey.

RE: Traits that make a great sight reader?
@dr-go said in Traits that make a great sight reader?:
Two Main Rules:
-
Sight Read Often
-
Sing it before you play it, and if you're Rapier, sing it to yourself and all will be fine.
The point of being able to sight read, in my mind, that you can pick up the piece of music and play it. No preparation, no study, no premeditation. Like picking up a book or newspaper and reading it without ever having seen it before. That’s what I consider a good sight reader. I marvel at a pianist who can read a piece for the first time- and there are many more notes, two staffs, and two clefs to consider as well!
I do think my sight reading has come a very long way, mind you. Up until about 8 years ago when I started playing with the community band and basically had all new music all the time, I was not being challenged much. It was in a church setting playing stuff I more or less knew and could play first time without any trouble. It was also not as difficult or intricate. -

My husband and I went through the McDonald's driveway window and I gave the cashier a $5 bill.
Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her 25c.
She said, 'you gave me too much money.'
I said, 'Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar back.'
She sighed and went to get the manager who asked me to repeat my request.
I did so, and he handed me back the 25c, and said 'We're sorry but we don’t do that kind of thing.'
The cashier then proceeded to give me back 75 cents in change.
Do not confuse the people at MacD's.We had to have the garage door repaired.
The repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener.
I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower.
He shook his head and said, 'You need a 1/4 horsepower.'
I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4 and he said, 'NOOO, it's not. Four is larger than two.'
We haven't used that repairman since...I live in a semi rural area.
We recently had a new neighbor call the local city council office to request the removal of the DEER CROSSING sign on our road. The reason: 'Too many deers are being hit by cars out here! I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'
IDIOT SIGHTING IN FOOD SERVICE.My daughter went to a Mexican fast food and ordered a taco.
She asked the person behind the counter for 'minimal lettuce.'
He said he was sorry, but they only had iceberg lettuce.I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked,
'Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?'
To which I replied, 'If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?'
He smiled knowingly and nodded, 'That's why we ask.'The pedestrian light on the corner beeps when it's safe to cross the street.
I was crossing with an 'intellectually challenged' co-worker of mine.
She asked if I knew what the beeper was for.
I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red.
Appalled, she responded, 'what on earth are blind people doing driving?!'
She is a government employee.....When my wife and I arrived at a car dealership to pick up our car after a
service, we were told the keys had been locked in it.
We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver’s side door.
As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked.
‘Hey,' I announced to the technician, 'its open!'
His reply, 'I know. I already did that side.'
STAY ALERT!I believe all of these I have lived through personally. Me on the smarter side of the equation........usually

Military Band you would like to hear
My wife and I went to see the US Navy Jazz Band, The Commodores, this past Sunday at the State Theatre in New Brunswick, NJ. I was a free concert, too. I would have paid a lot more to see them. They were amazingly good! The photo is advertising their upcoming events in my area. One of the best comcerrts I have been to in a long time!

It played OK for me, Wayne.
Woweee !!! some great mixing there. You must have a neat recording set-up.
And it sounds like the Glen Miller arrangement. The trumpet solo was right on.
Loved it, buddy.
GeorgeThanks a lot, George! It is really not a terribly technical set up. The thing is I have been messing around with GarageBand for some time and by looking at tutorials on YouTube and trial and error on my part I have been able to work out a lot of kinks. I have a fairly good mic.
I incorporate MuseScore which enables me to export mp3 files for parts that I can’t easily duplicate, like tuba, or piano, and drums, but sometimes I do my own drums and bass as well. I make these recordings from my living room couch. That is no lie! -
