Barliman: I use a Giardinelli New York 6sv screw rim, my Bach is a '74 Stradivarius Lt trumpet, not a cornet ...The Sovereign is a Studio model trumpet , not a B&H sovereign cornet.

Here is a shot of the 3rd valve casing on a similar horn, a few months older, same model though, unless it's carbon steel or stainless, that would be nickel there
Thinking of staying with copper, but re fit many months away so time to re think that
Have you considered recuperating/ cleaning and reusing them?(after running them through).
I wash and dry them, then I keep them in a jar of my favorite valve oil. I have been on the same jar since a few years now....

I have many Olds some "pro" models and some of the others also.At this time I have 3 Ambassadors, 1 Fullerton and 2 LA's. The earlier ones are lighter than the later ones and to me sound the best. My '47 with a Bach 43 pipe almost plays by it self..the later '51 all original is no slouch either, Fullerton models have always felt a bit bulky, heavy and muffled...just my own impression.

I didn't mention that I have been wearing glasses for 59years, bifocals for 40. Transition back to single simple lens is difficult at best. My new glasses have a larger sweet spot, that allows me to sit at a comfy distance to play...I like between 40-45" when i can get it in a rehearsal setting, I havn't been able to real life test these new specks yet, but I can't wait!
Thank to you both for the info. I do have an original ste up on a '47 Revelation...but nothing to measure with really. For the time being, I used a gold Strad rod(backwards) and nuts, althow, the strad theded rod seems a bit loose. I used a bit of teflon tape to make up the gap...on the knob end, I was looking for something a bit closer to the original, and find the Strad nuts a bit massive...may opt for a NY Strad (early) style end cap soldered to the end(discarded the unthreaded end)...or a salvaged old clock knob...at least for the time being I have something to keep the slide from falling off.
Dale; thank's for the photos, I do have 2 of those nickel ones on a model 47 and a 51lb, but really wanted something special for the 45! It will take a couple weeks, but, I'll try to post a photo when I'm done

Thank you Dale...of all the strange things about this trumpet( I had never seen a model 182) the serial number starting with 3 zeros was(is) the most concerning to me. But I value your knowledge.

Ewan did a set in Tiger's eye for my Recording a few years back. Great look with the Rey-O-Loy bell...and they turned out fantastic. Don't know if he still does them.

@jolter I did end up going for nickel plating over the bronze valves.
The casings also turned out to be nickel (German silver) and could possibly have slightly different alloy composition than the valve replate, but I can't be shure.
So far, I have not experienced any problems with valve action or unusual wear on the valves.
I don't play it all the time, only in rotation with other vintage horns.

@barliman2001 sorry failed tu mention this ie a early 70's trumpet according to the serial number 527...
I actually got it to fix someone's attempt at making a C trumpet out of a same model a few years older. I had read somewhere they where large bore, and i liked the thinn lightwieght bell reminiscent of the Sovereign Studio
Wondering if anyone has info on these models?..Besson International England made, dual triggers like the 10-10 may be larger bore (.468?) Could this be a pro level model

Worth fixing tired valves, rest looks pretty good. Short stroke, smooth slides, all parts there and good finish
