ESTATE PLANNING:
My buddy Dave was a single guy living at home with his father and working in the family business.
He knew that he would inherit a fortune once his sickly father died.
Dave wanted two things:
• to learn how to invest his inheritance and,
• to find a wife to share his fortune.
One evening at an investment meeting, he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
Her natural beauty took his breath away .
I may look like just an ordinary man," he said to her, "but in just a few years, my father will die, and I'll inherit 20 million dollars."
Impressed, the woman obtained his business card.
Two weeks later, she became his stepmother.
Women are so much better at estate planning than men. -

BTW, it's a shame about Berklee's tuition charges. When I first studied from them, costs were comparable with any other school. Now they're off the charts. And for musicians? Can you imagine with the average income of a musician, how long it would take to pay off student loans?

Books and Supplies $474I'm curious what "room and board" constitutes. If you divide that number by 12 (months in a year) you get $1530. That's more than my mortgage payment, and I have 1/2 acre lot. Are there no 1/2 room dives with 12 roommates in Boston for $600/month?
These costs are absurd. Most students will go into debt...and how will they pay it off?

Room & Board usually means a shared dormitory room for the school year (not including summer) and cafeteria style meals for the same length of time.
BTW, I checked on it and Berklee tuition in today's dollars would be around $1,616.00 (excluding R&B.)

I did a little searching and on facebook (I think it was facebook) was a picture of WMAR which is in Baltimore. However, this guy does not have a Maryland type accent. I kinda doubt that he is from West Virginia because of all the toboggans and shirts he wears, None of them say WVU Mountaineers. Being a Mountaineer, just about everyone (me included) owns some sort of WVU apparel.

Oh damned! My daughter wants to go to Berklee when she graduates!
Maybe I can write sad songs for Garth Brooks because I'll sure be sad when she goes and I'll be poorer while she's gone. -

Don't give up on Berklee. Even though it's expensive, I believe it also has a fair share of scholarships, work-study programs and grants available.

Scholarships would only reduce the costs, but I doubt it could ever become "affordable" for the average Joe/Jill.
That being said, I had a buddy who got a full-ride to Curtis, and another who got a 3/4 scholarship to Juilliard. Even though they had to pay for housing, that's a pretty cool thing to get into. -
