I recently started using ”BlowDry Brass” system at the end of my practice day. I started using this system after reading a recent discussion about it, I believe on this site. I have been using the same plug on one horn (Bach 37) until yesterday when started playing my Bach 72 and Lotus with a “Rapa 4th (rotor) valve”. The Lotus’s three piston valves are “MAW Valves”. Today I noticed that the plug was “shaved” (see below photos) I blew vigorously through both horns and found the missing shaved piece on the floor. I am not sure which horn it came from but I would think that the Lotus was the most likely suspect with the MAW Valves and the rotor 4th valve.
Has any one had a similar experience?

@ssmith1226 MAW valves when depressed and Rotary valves in both states present a sharp edge at the entrance to the chamber to anything flowing through. Conventional piston valves do not present this sharp edge.

          Ivan,
Good to hear from you. I hope all is well at your new home in Germany!
The foam plug was sliced with “surgical precision” as if a curved scalpel went through it.
For those that have not seen MAW Valves, this is what one on my trumpet looks like.
I’m not sure whether the Rotor 4th Valve was the likely culprit vs the MAW Valves, although I am favoring the Rotor 4th Valve due to some increased resistance blowing the plug through this area vs the MAW Valves.

                Thanks, George.

So, Ivan. That looks like Bavaria. Is that right? (Lucky dog.)

@kehaulani I'm next to the Austrian border near Salzburg. The shop is up and running - I have just completed a C cornet conversion and have a Flugel in for a Quarter tone valve fitting. My booklet "Trumpeting 4 Fun" is currently being translated into German.

I used to go to Schladming (in the area) for sevral summers. The view of the surrounfing mountains was so stunning, I can remember having to look away. It was so beautiful, it hurt my eyes. Enjoy.

BTW, was walking in Salzburg one day and came across a "Smuck Alee", LOL. You and I know what it means, but I could just see the bewilderment in the eyes of American tourists,

Also came across a Fu King Chinese restaurant. Have fun with that one.

@kehaulani Schmuck Allee in Salzburg... yes, I've seen a pic of ssmith1226 standing there, looking appropriately, with his wife looking smug... I don't think I'm telling any very personal secrets when I divulge that he just had bought a few minor goodies at the Schagerl factory shop (just a new gold plated Killer Queen flugel) and was now in honour bound to spend a reasonable sum on placating his wife...
