What Dr. Mark... you mean you don't hold a "Kenny" G note out for 59 minutes?

There was a time when I could play for a really long time using circle breathing. I would use it before I learned how to control my air better (and more importantly) write in the breath marks on the music. I first learned how to circle breathe in high school and then later while in college, I began playing the digeridoo. Kenny G makes a lot of people happy and does play well. However, when I saw on YouTube "Kenny G does Giant Steps" and he simply played one frickin' note and circle breathes, that pissed me off. I was hoping to hear another side of Kenny G.. I now enjoy his playing when I hear it (use to hate him) but admittedly, I don't own any of his recordings or require any of his riffs but who knows, maybe he'll put out something that makes me say; "Hey, I need that riff!"

Metronomes are an absolute must during practice sessions.

I can't use one. They always slow down or speed up. I just can't figure out how it keeps changing.

@Kehaulani I'm sure they must have rehearsed. The band members had to have at least latched onto a familiarity of the melody ahead of time. If Shaye seems to be controlling, how else would she act on a public street with all sorts of distractions and band members that are possibly new substitutes winging a tune? It must be a little like trying to herd cats.

I like the guts of a band like that.

@Niner It was never "my" problem. I moderated happily at TrumpetMaster - in spite of a lot of challenges. I only visit here occasionally as there really is little "new" or "stimulating" where I want to get more involved.

I disagree with just deleting "offending" posts. Often the offense is just a moment of stupidity and does not apply to the whole post or the person in general. But to each his own. You certainly are within your constitutional rights ˝to favor whatever you like!".

A-OK - Astronauts on the Mercury Project in 1961 popularized A-OK, meaning "excellent, perfect"; it was coined by blending the adjective "A," as in A-one or A1, meaning "first-class," with "OK."

He's right. This site structure is A0K. Works fine.

Good for him. And sounds good, too.

Just for a word of clarification. He did not play with The Headquarters Air Force Band. He played with an Air Force band.

      I've spent nearly half a century doing 1-3,2-4 over and over, and 4,2,3,1,3,2,repeat to build/maintain flexibility . . . .

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous!

There are many reasons Rayburn's folded.

Brick and Mortar shops (like mine) can survive. It's probably just a lot more challenging in this Amazon world. We are gonna keep fightin' at it!

Yes, I suspect there are. It seems that stores who can adapt, can survive!

When in Germany I had a colleague (trombone player, but smarter than most) who had taken part in a study about lung capacity among brass players. The finding was that brass players don't really have bigger lungs, but can easily control the exhalation.

When I was in my hospital bed, I had my pocket trumpet with me. When I started circular breathing my pulse optometry increased by 6%! That positive end respiratory pressure really does open up more alveolar sacks.
