    • RE: Links open in a new tab?

I found the same annoyance. I would then right-click on the link and select "Open link in new tab." It'll be nice not to have to do that; it's so tiring having to press two mouse buttons instead of just one, plus the loss of time, not to mention the mental exhaustion involved.

    • RE: What's in your mute bag?

Depends upon the gig and the folder. Basic are Tom Crown copper base straight mute, H&B cup and WaWah, plus a hardware store plunger. Available are an assortment of H&B straight, cup, and bucket mutes, Harmon mutes, Shastock cup and practice mute, H&B pixie and derby mute, very inexpensive (but far from cheap) Chinese practice mute.

I have yet to find a mute stand that I like enough to buy, so sometimes it's a challenge to keep juggling mutes from being awkward. One of the members at TM made his own mute holder from copper wire. It was simple, awesomely beautiful, and carefully well-made. I searched for it before TM's demise to catch another glimpse of it but could not find it. I'll probably have to make my own very similar to the one that inspired me years ago.

@Kujo20 You will recall my saying that TH is a forum, whereas TM is a family. I get that same sense here at TB, and I appreciate the lack of histrionics that could devalue the experience at TH and TM.

No that would be Pierced Trumpet Tits with Rings! The Trumpet Tits purists know that was only with the standard water key.

Handel wrote his Water Music in three keys. To which key are you referring?

    • RE: How Do I Date A King 2055T

Using this from TH https://www.trumpetherald.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1367115 and a search on eBay, I'd guess MasterWannabe's 2055T is possibly a 1986-1987 model if it says Eastlake above the serial number, which would be perpendicular to the valve casing, but more likely an early 2000 or later, especially if the serial number is parallel to the casing. There's a claimed 2001 Silver Flair listed with serial number 85XXXX. A trumpet with a serial number starting with a 3 would almost have to have been manufactured in 2000.

Once again, using the information from TH, Richard III's euphonium appears to be simpler to decipher. 1995-2000 would be my guess, thinking that a letter prefix was used and thinking that an A could have been used for euphoniums instead of the S said to have been used for trumpets at the time.

I welcome corrections from those more knowledgeable on the subject.

I forgot to add that each mute is in its own Crown Royal bag, except for the derby mute, which is in a similar larger soft bag.

I've been getting emails from TB I thought I would check it out again and happen to come across this post and I couldn't agree with you more. Well said.

Thank you! I’ve been a member of this site for one year and two months. You are the first person to agree with me about anything. I really appreciate it and I personally welcome you back!!!

I disagree! Uh... wait a minute... what I meant was... uh....

It's already been over a year. How about that? Time flies.

    • RE: In search of “my horn.”

@tjveloce Well, in TJB days Herb Alpert usually played a Benge, although it was manufactured considerably earlier than yours was. A mouthpiece safari might get you closer to the sound you're trying to duplicate, but ultimately your sound is going to be uniquely yours, as Herb's is his own. The sound that comes out of a wind instrument is the combination of player and instrument, with many variables to consider.

As far as which trumpets Herb Alpert played/plays, I did a quick https://duckduckgo.com/ search and came up with this from A&M: https://forum.amcorner.com/threads/what-trumpet-did-herb-alpert-play.1588/

@georgeb I'd say that his interview skills are on par with his other abilities. He certainly knew how to make her reach deep inside for answers to his questions. Wynton really makes people not only think, but also enables them to discover things about themselves that they hadn't considered before.

    • RE: Real Strad?

      @dale-proctor said in Real Strad?:

It’s a real Bach, a model 182 made in their Eastlake, Ohio facility around 2007. The bells read “Handcrafted in the U.S.A”.

“The Bach Stradivarius model 182 trumpet features a standard weight #37 one piece bell and #25 leadpipe, a lightweight body and a .459” bore. This particular combination, along with traditional Bach design values and classic features, responds quickly and delivers a quality of sound that is distinctly Bach. The instrument outfit includes a genuine gold plated Vincent Bach mouthpiece and a professional classic style case. The instrument is available in bright silver plate.”

After reading your post, I found this on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/284652696896?epid=8052393000&hash=item42469f7540%3Ag%3ANzkAAOSwwzZiCa2a&nma=true&si=4rhGi5j7KVyF1AJ%252F6wZShPrdhfI%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
