- Getzen Super Deluxe Tone Balanced
- Olds Ambassador
- Holton Revelation
- I've seen it before, but cannot place it.
- I don't specifically recall this one.
I expect that this will be an "Easy Quiz" for some; then I'll learn what 3 & 4 are.

I don't know I just think that giving the response of "I'm feeling suicidal today," to the cashier's question "How are you?" Just doesn't seem quite right.
Yeah... "I'm feeling homicidal." works better. It gives the cashier more to think about.
I've always been a fan of Blue Mitchell. For horn nerds, it looks like he's hugging his Martin Committee in the picture.
Dr GO's Ambassador is one of a fairly small herd of unicorns; they do exist, though. A larger number plays anywhere from mediocre to pretty good. They were all well-made and sturdy. I particularly like the water key arrangement, and Olds put some thought into producing visually appealing instruments.
@administrator You may not need a trumpet stand, since you may never want to allow it out of your hands! Eating, sleeping, etc. could become awkward, though. Enjoy!
Inspired by SSmith1226's post about alphorns https://trumpetboards.com/topic/1558/swiss-set-world-record-for-largest-alphorn-ensemble , I revisited an old recording of trumpets on the opposite end of the size scale:
... and discovered a contemporary variation:
Here's wishing you a speedy and complete recovery.
@dr-go Till Bronner's interpretation is every bit as good as Uan Rasey's IMO. It evokes a feeling of melancholy sadness and loss without the undertone of pain and senseless tragedy I hear in Uan's version.
@barliman2001 The condom is useful when someone asks to try your horn or mouthpiece. Just slip the condom over the mouthpiece, and let them have at it.
@Seth-of-Lagos John Barry and "favorite music" go together extremely well IMO.
Interesting. I always thought these resembled the smaller of Tutankhamen's trumpets, and now we hear something similar with more contemporary music. I suppose that intonation in the first video suffers due to the tongue-in-cheek method, whereas the second is very nicely done.
Glad to have you aboard (no pun intended)!
Aside from appearing to be a Bach Stradivarius, what caught my eye was the reversed front bell brace, the finger ring under the third slide, and the red upper valve cap felts. Upon further examination, there is only one third valve slide brace, and there is no third valve slide stop rod, just the piece that the rod would go through on the moveable part of the slide, and I'd say that the tuning slide water key is an Amado.
Alan Rubin lived up to his name, "Mr. Fabulous". Whenever I think of "Peter Gunn Theme", I think of The Blues Brothers' version, and vice versa. Hearing the way he handles it continues to be an inspiration. I've posted it before, and here it is again for those who share my enthusiasm for it:
I'd like to see an edit function. Yeah, I know: "Get it right the first time!"
@Bob-Pixley You've got a mightily respected reputation to maintain with your new name.

Superlative! Well-deserved applause afterward.

Another thing here is that NO brand or make of trumpet is going to make a great player out of any of these students. Repetition of correct methods. Lots of repetition, even on a no name trumpet will do it.
Excellent point. Some of us started out on TSOs, and we weren't discouraged by the obstacles these hunks of tubing challenged us with. A good player will learn how to play regardless of the equipment. Of course, there comes a time when it makes no sense to fight an inferior instrument. At that point a substantial upgrade is in order, according to the student's ability and budget.
