That was fantastic, guys. Love how you presented the end credits.

RE: Question on Caruso 6 notes
It sounds like it is meant to be played first, and after the wonderful experience I am enjoying, it just makes perfect sense.

RE: Question on Caruso 6 notes
UNBELIEVABLE
I am totally amazed that a practice routine like Caruso 6 notes can make such a huge difference by simply making it the first thing you do in an exercise session rather than the last.
Simply put, this change seemed to set me up for everything I had planned to do for the entire hour this morning. Everything was better, including my morning tone, right up to extra ease in playing a set of expanding scales to high C, plus the final exercise of lip slurs ranging from below to well above the staff.
Unbelievable. -

@grune
Yep, if the owner is happy, that is all that matters. -

@IrishTrumpeter
Your trumpet looks like a Bach TR300H2 student horn. I used one to make my comeback with in 2016. Great horn but wanting a bit when playing the higher register. Perhaps Bach is connected with Thoman. -
RE: Question on Caruso 6 notes
@Kehaulani
Thanks, Kehaulani, you don't get any better than her, that's for sure. And yes, sir, 60 bpm every time I do it. So from tomorrow morning on, Caruso is first. -
Question on Caruso 6 notes
I do an hour exercise every morning ( 7 days a week ) and have been doing the Caruso 6 notes exercise at the very end of the session. I can't remember the person who made a video on youtube ( a teacher, I believe ) who says I should be doing just the opposite.
So what is the correct procedure? Should I do Caruso at the beginning or at the end. It has been a huge help in developing my embouchure but perhaps things would be even better if I was doing the 6 notes at the beginning rather than the end of my practice session. How do you do the Caruso 6 notes ? -

@flugelgirl
Thanks for the suggestion. A sample pack makes good sense. -
RE: Opinions on Valve Oils?
@adc
Yeah, I was sort of thinking along those lines. Sort of one size fits all. Thanks for the input. I still have a few bottles of Hetman to use up before I order the Berp, so I don't have to jump in a hurry. -
RE: Opinions on Valve Oils?
I am thinking about switching to Berp, at least on a trial basis for my horns but am wondering what the right number is to order for my horns. They sent me a chart so I could compare Berp to what I am now using, Hetman.
The Berp #3 viscosity is 5.64 compared to 2.77 for Hetman #3. Berp #2 is 3.68 vs Hetman's 2.02, and Berp #1 is 2.23 vs Hetman's 1.98. My two newer horns I use #1 so no problem there, but I have a 1999 Conn Bb that works best with Hetman #2, and I use Hetman#3 for two Selmer Paris horns, aged 1952 and 1959, and a 1962 Conn Victor Cornet.
If anyone here has horns similar to my age categories, and are using Berp, what viscosity do you use.
I really think the Berp #3 is way to thick for any of my older horns and would likely cause them to either hang up or be too slow.
I'm open to any suggestions. -
RE: Bria Skonberg interview
I could listen to her all day...not just because she, like me, is Canadian but I love the smokey voice and the sounds she gets with her trumpet. In the video below, listen to that Satchmo influence. Gives me the goosebumps.
Thanks for that first vid on how she practices, Kehaulani I've never seen that one before.

RE: Hello! Welcome to TB, who are you?
Quite an interesting story, Rapier 232.

RE: I really should be a better player.
Correction on the picture I posted : when a print was made from the negative, the neg was flipped. I incorrectly look like a left handed player. This next picture was printed correctly:

RE: I really should be a better player.
@BigDub said in I really should be a better player.:
That trumpet in the photo.....no finger hole, no bracing, absolutely no engraved brand anywhere to be found on the Horn. Surprising I was even enthusiastic enough to continue playing since it was so difficult to get any decent sound. Of course the player didn’t help much. It was a bit of a joint effort in that sense. That Horn wouldn’t even be lamp worthy, I don’t think.
But it sure looked purdy, Wayne .

RE: I really should be a better player.
@BigDub
Ha Ha... I stopped playing in 1965 and started playing again in 2016... that made it 51 years. Should have written that differently to make it clearer. -
RE: I really should be a better player.
I did a lot of things with the trumpet that I can't do today when I played some 50 years ago between '53 and '65. So I should be a better player, too, but I am not. Age has a way of changing things.
I do think I am a smarter player today, and a bit more knowledgeable in the music theory thing, but you'd have to call 911 if I tried playing a 3 hour wedding gig these days.
Poor quality, but this is me with my 5 piece combo playing a teen dance in the early 50s.

RE: The New Reality
Thanks, Steve, that was so sweet. The future of music is in great hands.

RE: Musicians' Glasses
I just got a new set of playing glasses now in the works. I should have them early next week, hopefully in time to play at our next practice session. But this gal of yours sounds really special.
