RE: A little humour
Another couple in Dustin and Jane's group of friends was much more successful with having children and loved the whole idea of being parents. Carl and Lisa had 3 children in rapid succession and all the friends were quite perplexed that they suddenly stopped having kids. Dustin and Jane asked them about it, saying, how come you stopped at three so sudden like? Don’t you want a big crew of children?
Well, we did, they said, but recently they heard that one out of four children born in the world is Chinese, and they just didn’t think they could take the chance. -
Special music reading glasses
Does anyone have specialized glasses just for reading sheet music? I know it is so, but if you could comment on it and maybe give me some suggestions.....
I do have progressive lenses and my prescription is up to date, yet the only thing I seem to have issues with is reading sheet music. I have no trouble reading music from my iPad, and it’s not even the larger version.
On the paper stuff, I seem to mistakenly see the note on the next space up or down. If it’s really a c in the staff I think it might be a d. Like that. -

Dustin and Jane (both blonde) were delighted when finally their long wait to adopt a baby had come to an end.
The adoption centre called and told them they had a wonderful Russian baby boy, and the couple took him without hesitation.
On the way home from the adoption centre,
They stopped by the local college so they each could enrol in night courses.
After they filled out the form, the registration clerk inquired,
“Whatever possessed you to study Russian?”
The couple said proudly,
“We just adopted a Russian baby and in a year or so he’ll start to talk. We just want to be able to understand him.”

Administrator: I couldn’t do a message to you in the normal way, so this is why I tell you here.
I just got an email from GeorgeB. He says he is locked out and cannot log in or anything. I had a similar problem but it worked itself out somehow. Could you please see if you can help him with that

Yeah, she is good, Wayne. I've watched quite a few of her videos.
Did you watch closely at 3:39 on. You can really see the facial muscles from the upper lips toward the orbits of her eyes work as she uses the "phwoooooo" embouchure. It is a much softer approach to the embouchure, and is the most efficient from the concept of expanding energy for trumpet playing.
It was TIne that said in an interview posted elsewhere on this blog that "I do not buzz". In fact, she "phwooooooooos".
I also saw her demonstrate the fact that she cannot buzz at all without the mouthpiece....physically can not get a buzz....

RE: Hi all, new here
Welcome, @gloucestre.
There is an app I use for photo reduction that is called Resizer.
It is extremely easy to use and there are about three steps and you’re good to go. Oh, it might be important for me to mention that I use it on an iPad, but I am fairly sure it is PC ready as well.Feel free to message me if you have questions, mate!

RE: Famous Signature Songs
If one player stands out to me that has virtually one and only one signature song, then it seems to me Chuck Mangione's “Feels So Good” fits that like almost no other. And from the general public's perspective I think you would be hard pressed to find one out of a hundred who could name any other songs he ever did!

Yes I've also always thought the sound of a C trumpet is very Christmas-yIt seemed to fit perfectly. Very clean delivery on your part. Very.
Do you have a brass ensemble there? If so, message me.

RE: Some Of Your Favorite Trumpet Gals
Very nice, George.
Here is a favorite of mine, and I am not sure how I came upon her music, but she is one of, if not the most Famous trumpet players in Norway. Her name is Tine ( Tee-nah ) Thing ( ting ) Helseth. By the way, I probably have more Norwegian blood in me than many of the performers you will see in any of her videos, just saying....haha, it does have a lot to do with why I like her. Her effortless style and beautiful tone have a lot to do with it, for sure.
It is also to be noted that I picked one where she plays one of Edvard Greig's composition, appropriately.

Thanks! I was playing my Bach 238 bell C trumpet.I thought it might have been a c trumpet. Good for church music for sure. Especially where guitars are playing, too.

Really nice playing! Loved it. I kind of know the area a little bit. We have a second house in Boise Idaho. This is Eagle, Idaho I am guessing right? Unfortunately we have not gotten out there for quite a while now because of COVID. -

Also, how is Christmas like work?
You do all the work and the fat guy in the suit gets all the credit.

Re: Staying in top playing shape post band shutdown
I kept up the practicing for a couple of months then things started to slide. I was able to get a couple of jazz gigs so I learned a few new tunes and practiced a lot for several weeks. The gigs went very well. Hard to stay motivated after that for sure. I do enjoy downloading play along tracks, importing them into my recording program, then recording myself on aa separate track. Started doing this a lot more since Covid and things have really improved, intonation, time, right notes!! etc. Fu=ind fun ways to try new things, you have lots of time...
I do the same thing myself. It is more fun for me and motivating, for sure. I am not a pro, nor do I have to answer to anyone who might tell me, “ you should be doing this, or that, or long tones, or short loud tones, or unpleasant tones”, you get my point, right? Here is a sample of a track. I added bass, guitar and light percussion with the use of GarageBand on my digital keyboard.

This trumpet only comes out at Christmas time. It might well be my favorite ornament!

Parallel lines have so much in common. It's a shame they will never meet!
They get along great, though. They never cross each other.

I am aware of a bug that has recently appeared where the mobile menu does not work properly. I am working on fixing this, it may take a few days. Thank you to those who helped make me aware of this issue.
I‘m still trying to order something from the stationary menu.
Just sayin'. -
RE: A little humour
You have all heard teachers, advisors, seminar leaders and the like say, “there are no dumb questions”.
Would anyone like to put their two cents in on this?
