RE: Star Spangled Banner
There’s this- he even moved some of the players, who often don’t even pay attention. Not exactly played straight, but absolutely beautifully done IMO.

BTW - played and conducted that version of "Battle Hymn" hundreds of times, if not more. Stock for the trade and a classic.
And.....there’s no topping that now, is there?

RE: A little humour
It looks like it might have had a rumble seat there, with that big trunk lid and heavy duty handle to open it?

@j-jericho That took me a couple of minutes.
It is taking me many minutes.......I still don't get it -
RE: R.I.P. Sammy Nestico
That is very sad to hear. Our community band did several of his arrangements, as our director knew him personally. We even did one or more that had never been played by anyone else publicly.
Here is The Battle Hymn Of The Republic by our Blawenburg Band.

I always wanted to express my feel for these civil servants we owe so much respect to....”THE BUILDING INSPECTOR”
By me....until you have to deal with one who’s a little Napoleon. I knew the codes better than he did, but it took a call to his supervisor to get him to see it my way.
I thought my sarcasm would be obvious. A whole lot of them are Napoleons. A lot of these guys/gals wouldn’t make it a minute trying to do the tasks they criticize so freely.

@kehaulani
How about Java, by Al Hirt?
He really had some chops. I am not saying he necessarily needed his full arsenal on Java, but it really put him into the popular mainstream -

RE: Artist on BOARD
I did a bit of a tribute to my cousin, who was a significant influence on my artistic life. His painting, which I did a study on here, was a fall scene, so I did a very similar scene in a winter feel

@dr-go
nah, probably just a regular old bare incandescent bulb-
Ya wise guy -
RE: Special music reading glasses
I don’t have any trouble with seeing the conductor. It’s more of a problem that I have to look.

RE: Artist on BOARD
Another completed painting. This morning.
Based on a scene from my own area, but I made it wintery.![alt text -

When I started my comeback, I had prescription glasses made just for music. The big drawback, is that i couldn't see the conductor very well, looking away from the stand gave me a headache. Stricly reading music ( practice at home) was great.
In the end, my regular precripton byfocals ended up working out best.G.
Thanks. I think I will check into that. Lucky for me, I don’t really pay that much attention to the conductor....just kidding -
RE: A little humour
Ole was a Norwegian from Minnesota, and of course, Lutheran. He got pretty drunk one Friday night and accidentally found himself, for the first time ever, ( unbeknownst to him ) in a confessional at a Catholic Church. After a while he hears knocking on the wall beside him. After another while he hears knocking again. He answers the knocking, you may as well stop knocking, my friend, there’s no paper in here either.

RE: Special music reading glasses
Thanks, George. You have my email so if you end up exiting, keep in touch, my friend..

Well, we did, they said, but recently they heard that one out of four children born in the world is Chinese, and they just didn’t think they could take the chance.
So do you think that punch line will go viral?
Ohhhhhh yes
