The soloist was wearing a digital watch. How inauthentic. Blasphemy!

But seriously, that video is just seamless. All superlatives apply.

Listening to the consistent timbres, it really makes one think about where and how nodes and antinodes occur within a wind instrument.

Thank you... Yes, I picked up a guitar the same time I picked up trumpet. Probably for the past 50 years, both have competed for my attention.

Funny thing with the guitar (true story!) --- My sister Ginny had an old nylon string acoustic guitar in her room. I used to sneak into her room and doodle around on her guitar, trying to figure it out (no lessons, no knowledge). But one day my older sister Sue was blaring an old Cream album on her record player in her room. I heard the opening notes to "Sunshine Of Your Love", and somehow, someway, I figured out what Eric Clapton was playing on Ginny's nylon string guitar. Just then, she caught me red-handed, in her room, playing her guitar, and playing along with Eric Clapton's guitar lick -- without ever taking a lesson! I just remember her yelling at me, yanking her guitar out of my hands, smacking the {expletive} out of me, as she chased me out of her room! 😨
...my parents soon bought me my own acoustic guitar, and the rest is history!

Thank you! I will never be as good as my grandmother - she was a concert violinist in New York City back in 1914, 1915, and her violin is not only over 100 years old - it is priceless to me!

Ok, as promised, here's the report from the first concert with the ACB picc.
Read about "Acoustics" - description of the very unconventional hall we played in. Lots of open spaces, lots of glass, two staircases... during rehearsal, sound just vanished. At the performance, the ACB without amp easily filled the hall without effort, blended well with all the brass section of the orchestra (one Lechner Bb, one Cerveny tenor horn, one K&H trombone and a really ancient Lidl tuba). No problem with intonation even after a long wait for it being played - only used in the final piece.
Audience were thrilled, gave us 14 minutes of applause. I'm content.

@dirk020 Thanks very much for your generosity... I have a great many great trumpets as well, but there is a difference between a great horn and the one that you feel can read your mind... and Courtois instruments always do that...

@robcs Well, mine is exactly the same. I had a friend test play it as well - pro player with 25 years of playing in London West End musicals under his belt - and he wanted to take if off me for a whopping € 1,500 at once. Did not get it. I've had a number of C trumpets in my time - I started off with a Bach Strad 239, then had a Strad rotary, a Stomvi Elite C, a 1940 Couesnon, a Votruba rotary C (which I only play-tested for a friend of mine who wanted it to top a friend's gold-plated Lechner - which it did), but the Gaudet is the one that fits me best. It came with a #1 Tilz mouthpiece which suited it very well indeed, but for me it does best with my regular Bach Megatone 1C, or with my Stomvi Mouthpiece System on 1 B configuration.
As to being an intermediate/student horn... I've recently got info from another player who used to visit the Courtois works pretty regularly that Courtois did not produce different lines per se. That's why there is the Courtois stamp on the valve block. They produced the basic trumpet (i.e. without additional triggers and rings and the like) and then had their quality control guys go over the hooters. Anything that was not 110% perfect (little blobs in the lacquer, minute scratches and the like) was then branded Gaudet, while the perfect horns got the AC pinky ring and were branded Courtois.
As to 3rd valve rings - mine has an underslung one so as to make space on the upperside of valve #3 for a lyre holder.
