The domain TrumpetMaster.com is set to expire this coming October. If it does not renew, should I buy it and have it redirect here? I'm afraid I cannot restore the old site regardless, I have no access to that data.

What would be the purpose? To rename Trumpetboards? To get any traffic that might still be looking for TrumpetMaster?

I wrote e'mails to admins and hosters, researched the blocking of the site but got no answers. I know of a couple of legal actions that fizzled out but nothing that would have locked the site down.

I think that you have done an admirable job giving the orphaned a home. Admins are clear about their actions and are willing to "discuss" decisions. I do have the impression that the troublemakers did not migrate.

I see no use for the domain if we can not restore content.

@rowuk I can only second that opinion.

I don't know. Maybe to pick up stragglers. Probably not needed.

Probably wouldn't be worth the cost.

@administrator I think everyone that wanted TrumpetMaster ended up here, whether through discovery or invitation, and from my perspective, TrumpetBoards is a good evolution. I wouldn't go to the trouble and expense of resurrecting TM. Whatever happens to it could end up like website versions of Olds and Conn. TB is a streamlined, user-friendly niche website/community with quality members.

I agree with all sentiments stated here.

It can be looked upon as a simple cost - benefit exercise.

What exactly is the cost and is there a benefit.

The cost while not being prohibitive will probably be ongoing and may spawn further costs down the line.

                  I dont see any benefit.

All things have a lifetime they come to an end and die, and if you dont let them die when the time comes, they can become zombie like and only deliver existence with no real purpose.

Perhaps it is time to let the old site die so that life can move on.

So... are you saying all of us TMers here on TB are in our afterlife? Is TB trumpet heaven? TB does have it's own spirit, and I am wearing a halo... or is that the result of me having one-to-many gin and tonics?

I cannot answer for anyones spiritual wellbeing or the possibility of their joining or having joined the choir immortal.

Or indeed having had their spirits lifted by beverages however intoxicating.

All I can perhaps hope is that those who have lived in the former existence on the former TM site might have been reborn to a better existence in here.
