I've done gigs like that. Even played Bitburg, too.

Not only beer but Schnaps or Kirshwasser or Obstler. Dangerous stuff.

My policy was for the band to always stay one drink behind the crowd. That way they stay a little drunker than you. I think it worked. At least that's what I'm told. 👹

All of my three community bands cancelled the season TODAY because of COVID-19 virus fears. I'll miss the Monday and Friday bands. Wednesday, not so much.

Three of the five that I am involved with at various times of the year did the same. I wouldn’t be surprised if the other two do the same in the next few days.

Even though there are no known cases of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia, it is just a matter of time and I have decided to drop out of my community band until further notice. I am 83 and in good health and feel I could deal with an infection, but my 86 year old sister broke her hip and had to have surgery 2 weeks ago. She has a lot of post surgery health problems, including a lung infection. I spend a lot of time with her and help her with things she can't do herself and I would be devastated if I was responsible for infecting her with the COVID-19 virus. I really don't think she could survive an infection right now. So I am sort of semi-isolating myself until this virus thing runs its course. I am going to miss playing with my band mates but I don't feel I have any choice in the matter.

Our band lost its practice facilities, so we're on hiatus for at least 3-4 weeks.

George - that's really a mature way of seeing it.

I was just thinking this morning. My 95 year old mother is really confident of her health and is a little bullet proof. But I and my sister have both health problems and also fall into the vulnerable age group.

She may feel she won't get the disease herself, but she can carry it to both of her vulnerable children. People have to think about others' vulnerability and not only about whether or not they will get the disease, themselves.

No more venues in Ohio. Our Governor just closed all restaurants in Ohio after 9:00 PM tonight. Drive-troughs can remain open.

@Newell-Post Rehearsals for both Community Bands I belong to have been cancelled for 4 weeks, minimum, as well as 3 scheduled performances. I suspect 4 weeks cancellation is just the beginning.

Well, today the San Francisco Bay area counties all got hit with "shelter in place" orders. That basically means no public meetings of any kind or any size. Bars and restaurants are closed for 3 weeks, although some restaurants can offer take-out. I can't even have a sectional rehearsal at my house.

My dropping out of the band started something. The band, after others supporting my decision said they will drop out, has suspended operations for an undetermined period. I feel better not being alone in my decision. But life is going to be boring for awhile. However, I will continue to practice mornings and plays songs in the afternoons as always.

I am off my school bus for 2 weeks, as they closed schools due to COVID-19. Nobody is going anywhere. The Shriners Band canceled everything until further notice. The "Grand Poo-bah" 😜 of the main Masonic Lodge (Grand Lodge of Virginia) has issued a directive or whatever, that everybody from all the Lodges, the Shriners, the Scottish Rite, etc... are to stay home. All fraternal activities are hereby canceled until further notice...

It's going to be more than 2 weeks.

My girlfriend's son lives in China and teaches school there. He isn't in the "hot zone", but one of the other cities. They were under strict quarantine for about 6 weeks. The bars and restaurants are now re-opening and there has been no resurgence of virus. (So far.)

All of my community band gigs have gone away (mostly postponed) and rehearsals are on hold. We (more than half of the members) keep in touch via a FB page. Given that some, more fortunate members are now working from home, they may have some extra time which was spent commuting. Less fortunate members may have way too much time on their hands. Band members range from professionals, teachers to (very) occasional practicers.
I offered the following list of suggestions, promising to go a little more in depth on each one in future posts. My current project is # 2 on the list, trying to brush up both trombone skills and reading concert pitch bass clef parts, but am trying to keep on with most of the other suggestions.

                                      1. Play along with YouTube videos of other concert bands performing “our” charts.
                                      2. Brush up on your reading skills - maybe transposing or reading other (bass?) clef parts.
                                      3. Write some tunes/songs. Keep it short and sweet at first.
                                      4. Listen - really listen - to music. Listen to the back-catalogue of a fave artist, maybe delve into a new genre
                                      5. Improvise – if you haven’t tried any improv work, now could be the time.
                                      6. Do some home recording – I mean multi-track, sound on sound.

If you have addition time stuck at home, I hope you're able to make good use of it. Things will get worse before they get better.
                                      take care.

FWIW, the virus lock-down hasn't affected my practicing at all. Other stuff, big time. But practicing and music-related activities. - no.
