      Yeah, seems the jazz players today play very angry. I don't know, but the thing I liked about players like Bobby Hackett, when he played a ballad like Stardust, he improvised but he was still with the melody and you always knew the song he was playing.

      The Moog Synthesizer has a key hook up to patch an mic through the Synthesizer. I use a standard Sure Microphone as whey you are having wave forms created from the original trumpet input, I do not think the mic choice would be much of a variable (at least on a synthesizer).

      Thanks for enlightening me, Barliman. I did some research and found the name of the movie, the full cast and what not. The movie was called A Song Is Born and was released in 1948. I would have been 12 years old then so that's probably why I had never heard of the movie before.

      @trumpetsplus I already have the Resonance Enhancers and my special trigger linkage system for additional valves (Quarter tone, Ascending C/D, in tune Bb/C, double bell) plus the range extender third valve slide, I expect to do more of this type of work, and such other custom work as comes up.

      I have the resonance enhancers on both my Bb Strads, the trumpet and cornet. They really do work, and a friend of mine is using them too after borrowing one of my sets and deciding he wanted some. You can see them between the valves on this picture.

      @kehaulani

      For me the very thought of losing my eyesight is terrifying. I have been dealing with Glaucoma for the last 20 years. Drops keep the pressure at an acceptable level, but there was nerve damage to my left eye before they found I had Glaucoma. That damage causes weird things to happen, but I have learned to live with it.

      I have so much respect for you, kehaulani. You have gone through hell and no one should ever have to deal with even an eighth of what you have. You have so much knowledge of music, and I know how much it must hurt to be unable to play the trumpet when things get bad for you.
      I hope and pray that your health will improve enough for you to get back on the horn.
      George

      @dale-proctor said in Funny story that's sort of trumpet related...:

      I sat next to John Williams in a trumpet section years ago. No, not that John Williams…lol

      A few years before Brassed Off, my concert band had the honour of playing a set directly after Grimethorpe had given an absolutely spellbinding, vituoso performance of the Lohengrin Prelude.

      So I duly settled into the chair just vacated by THE Alan Morrison :

      ... and launched into Girl from Ipanema.

      And that, my dear friends, is the very definition of the phrase 'from the sublime to the ridiculous'.
