Jellyfish have survived for 500 million years despite not having brains.
This gives me hope for the next generation.

is a joke thread really the place for another Evolutionist vs Creationist discourse?
Let's make this thread funny again...

OK. Let me try to put a humorous twist to the discussion:

Brian-Moon, a lot of physics got us to advance in space explorations that came from math of space expansion over the Billions and Billions of years. Here is a video proving how this ageless application of science got us to the moon:

Look guys, the Earth is 6000 years old. Like old Willy, who I worked with, said heatedly when we were talking about a satellite going around the Earth, "Can't go around the Earth. The Earth's flat! Read your Good Book, it's all there. Can't go around the Earth."

Now can we at least stay on topic? Isn't this the Humor thread?

Well, it'S always a question of which version of the Good Book you are referring to. So I went off the translations - which are human interpretations anyway - and back to the original texts (being a historian with Jewish connections, knowing Hebrew and Greek was easy). And hey presto - no one in the original texts ever said anything about the Earth being flat or round - it just is not mentioned in the Bible at all, because it does not matter to whoever first composed the text.
You can't use something that is not mentioned at all as a proof...

There's a Bible reference to the four corners of the Earth. I'm more than sure they weren't referring to a map.

Actually, the Latin version has not "corners" but the word plagis which can mean anything from "net" to "hit" to "foundation". And that in itself is just a translation from Hebrew kรขnรขph meaning "uttermost extremity" or "wingtip". So you could possibly imagine a bird-shaped Earth, with the peoples gathering from the uttermost wingtips of the bird (somewhat like the giant turtle in Terry Pratchett's writings).

The Good Lord told Man, "I am going to create women for you, beautiful, obedient, and submissive. And you will find them in all four corners of the world."
And then he made the world round, and laughed.

In Isaiah, it also mentions that God sits above the circle of the earth. Interesting verbiage in both instances.

If you're looking from above, the shape can be circular but that doesn't imply a globe. It could be flat, just circular vs. rectangle, square, etc. BTAIM, any sociologist knows the prevailing belief historically was that the Earth was flat. No argument.

I feel like the "flat world" is more of a modern thing than anything else. Sort of like "I want to show everyone how different I am so I'm going to pick this silly non-issue to do so."
