@King_Conng Do you have a simple version of Photoshop, or anything similar, that would copy the image down to 500 x 500 pixels? That should make it uploadable.

@Tobylou8
I would love to have a 36A -
@Newell-Post Thank you, I think I can download a photo editor app, I'm on android most of the time. Hadn't even thought of it since I was using the preinstalled editor, I'll try to see if the new app works. If it does, I'll share the app so others on android with problems will have something as well.

Yes, it worked!
For future reference for mobile users, all I did was:- Take the picture with phone, unless you already have a picture
- Downloaded "QReduce Lite" on app store (Lite version is free)
- Open app, and press "choose photo" on screen
- Select a photo from within your gallery
- Choose the file size (I used 0.5 mb)
- Press "Done" on keypad, then "Start" on screen
- Then it will compress the image to that size
- Then use the upload icon on "trumpetboards" (last icon on right of screen)
- Select the edited image
- Problem solved
If anyone is wondering, the white circle icon on the picture is from a separate app I had used, the editor app does not do this, it only compresses the image size.

@King_Conng That is the most unhinged thing I have ever seen a person do.
-
@Newell-Post If unhinged is referring towards the person that vandalized my horn, then definitely yes. Thank you again for the suggestion for an editor application or program, I hope my post will help others in the future.
-
@King_Conng It does indeed refer to the vandal. Unhinged.
-
@Newell-Post On a brighter note, if I have half a horn, can I be a half a member of the Vintage Bach Club?

Makes me wonder why they didn't take the water key levers while they were at it.
-
@King_Conng what model is that? I have played a number of king cornets in the same class of Ambassador Cornets. Much better cornet thanthe Olds.
-
@adc It is a 1977 bach stradivarius cornet with a 37 bell. No corporation, and has the circle r stamp.
-
@adc My first horn, and still love to play, was a King Cleveland 602. It is the version with the curved bell braces, and plastic or nylon one-point valve guides. It is built like a tank, and got me through the marching band war field. It got me interested in other horns from hn white, now I have 2 king liberties and a restored master model trumpet. I haven't yet gotten a master model cornet though. Gotta love those old horns.

Well, I did it. Conn 1947 36A. It might be to "trumpety" for me but my understanding is that Conn managed to make it sound a bit more mellow than the King Master. Can't wait to get it.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/283421405752Nice looking valves in the listing! Can't say the same about the springs, but if they don't rub.... I'd probably replace them anyway if it was my cornet. Seems like a savvy seller, too. Enjoy!

I think that this is about to become my favourite cornet. It just arrived. Incredibly complete with two sets of valve slides and appears to have all or most of the famous Mechanism in pieces.
It's in way better condition than the eBay seller's description. The case is tatty, but seems original. Third valve was rotated and so it wouldn't make a sound at first. Oiled and refitted the valves and it plays quite nicely. All slides except the main tuning slide move freely. The tuning slide crook fell off in my hand so I guess that the inner tubes are seized. Will clean it up and have a gentle go at freeing them this weekend.
I'm as happy as a pig in manure. I think this is a keeper -
@N0isemaker the valve guides are the same as the King Liberty - you may have an easier time finding a Liberty as a donor horn.

@tjcombo
With the original mouthpiece! For mine I had to find one on eBay.
I also had to change the springs. It now plays like in a dream...
