30 years ago I was interested in Ham radio.
I obtained my Advanced Class license, but never had the money to buy a radio "rig".

      Anyway,
a tradition in ham radio was to obtain confirmation of contacts
with as many states and countries a possible.

How many states and countries are represented here ?

      I born in California, Missouri.
Raised in Grandview, Missouri, a suburb south of Kansas City.
      Moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota,
      then Dallas, Texas,
      then Bowling Green, Ohio.
Then I moved to Louisville, Kentucky, in 1992 to take a job in the engineering department of a TV station.

I have lived in Kentucky longer than in any other place in my life,
but I will never feel at home here.
I often joke that I am not a low-class Kentuckian,
because I am a high-class Missourian with culture and sophistication, as Harry Truman was famous for.

One woman once complained to Mrs. Truman,
"Your husband is always saying "manure"".
      Mrs. Truman replied,
"It took me 30 years to get him to use that word".

Then there was the time that a reporter criticized the concert of Truman's daughter.
      Truman threatened to whip his...

      See, we Missourians have class...

You would have felt right at home in Minneapolis.
Full of Swedes and Finns and other Scandanavians.
An old woman taught me how to do the "skoni" accent,
          which she always laughed at.
The accent of stereotypical Swedes as seen in movies.

As a person of German Baptist ancestry, I too found it amusing.

I believe Ohio is well represented here. Currently living in Dayton... and am supporting Dayton Strong as we still grieve through last weekend's mass killing.

Originally from Cincinnati, lived in Cleveland for two stents, (with brief residents in Ft. Collins Co and New York City - Actually Jackson Heights, Queens) but came back down to Dayton which is comfortably close to my home roots in Cincinnati.

Just to give you something to google, I was raised in the wapentake of Ainsty (an stiga = 'narrow path' in Old English). A bit awkward to explain so I usually say I'm from York, which is not entirely a lie.

I've spent the last twenty years in Lagos, Nigeria, though we're building our retirement home in Owerri over in the east of the country.

Having said that, Mrs Seth and I are currently staying in our son's apartment in Kuala Lumpur. And Mrs Seth likes it here. So maybe .... who knows.

Born and raised in the Kalamazoo Michigan area...home of a lot of musical instrument making giants!

Gibson (Kalamazoo), York (Grand Rapids)...and even though he didn’t do business in Kalamazoo, Dave Monette was born in the area.

With a handful of people representing Ohio...I sure hope a few more reps from the Superior State pop up! Although, I must admit, the Ohio reps here on TB certainly seem to be good people!

I think we have folks from the Netherlands, Austria, Australia, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Nigeria, Canada? I am not 100% certain of all of these.
Me? Born in Norwegian Lutheran Hospital, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, parents both Norwegian American. Now I live in Hillsborough, NJ.

Hold on here, a minute. I see no mention of Norwegians. Just saying.

                                      I wasn't born yesterday.

                                      I did a Google search.

There is no such place as North Weegia...

                                      Morris / moshe

"you can tell if a man is from Norway, when his head cannot fit through the doorway"
that has always been my guide.
There are two kinds of people in this wide big world.
Norwegians, and those who pine away wishing they were.

Born in Queens, NY, but lived and raised in Mt. Vernon, NY, during the Bach Mt. Vernon years. When Bach left, so did I, with my Mt. Vernon Bach. I lived in Manhattan for four years, then New Orleans, LA for five years. The last 40 years home has been in Marathon, FL, the “Heart of the Florida Keys”, with scattered down time time in Orlando, FL and Plymouth, MA.

I grew up in Maine, moved to Boston to attend Berklee but was unhappy with the quality of the education and moved back to Maine to attend University of Maine at Augusta until I figured out what was next. Much better education, with unlimited access to teachers that really pushed me, unlike the half hour a week I got with my private instructor at Berklee, but I missed Boston. Joined the Navy when I ran out of money for school and was stationed in New Orleans, Silverdale WA, Norfolk VA and San Diego, finished out back in Norfolk. Had a lot of travel throughout the US and South America, as well as a bunch of cross-country moves. My husband (from Miami) and I enjoyed our time in the Seattle area the most, so that is where we chose to retire. Been back in the area almost 3 yrs and still loving it!
