Olds Recording Tuning Slide

The tuning slide on my Olds Recording is rotting through. I leave it on a stand and the moisture puddles there. Any suggestions on where I can find a replacemet?? PM me at.

Sorry to hear that, rj. I can't help you with your inquiry, though I'm sure someone here will.
I own a Recorder along with several other great horns and I also leave them on their stands. BUT ! The one thing I always do and highly recommend to you, to do it too, is to swab the lead pipe and tuning slides, as well as the the other slides, after every use. Do that and you won't have red rot problems.
Good luck in finding a supplier,

rjkossman2@gmail.comI don’t have a slide available, but I do have an Olds Recording Trumpet for sale in good shape for $1,500 plus shipping. Below are a couple of quick photos. The serial number puts it circa late 1956 to early 1957. Let me know if you have any interest. I also have a mint Olds Recording Cornet if anyone is interested.

@ssmith1226 Steve, that Olds Recording cornet would be a perfect match for my Olds Recording trumpet... what are you asking?

Elmar,
This circa 1955 Olds Recording Cornet was fully restored a few years ago by Tom Green, including the valves rebuilt, and has been in its case since. It is in mint condition. The case is original and it includes the original mouthpiece that came with it. These do not use a standard modern cornet shank. I would ask $1,500 USD (much less than the cost of the instrument and restoration) plus shipping. I have no idea what shipping and insurance would be to Austria.
Below are a few photos. -
@ssmith1226 Thanks; but it comes down for me to either finance the cornet (and I have another four cornets - Buescher 265, Besson International x 2, Courtois, and a B&H Sovereign Sop) or pay for two orchestral trips to Italy (one in May, to Cefalù, playing 1st trumpet with Da Capo Travel - Brahms #2 and Elgar, Enigma, and the other in August, to Pistoia in Tuscany, playing Brahms 4). And being faced with this choice, I am content to let this cornet go to someone who can really enjoy it as their only cornet.
As regards cornets... what about the second weekend in July?? Bitburg? -

As regards cornets... what about the second weekend in July?? Bitburg?I wish I could make it to Bitburg then but my Daughter and Grandcjildren will be visiting us in Plymouth, Massachusetts then and I have multiple band commitments in Massachusetts from June into October.
In regards to your cornet situation, everyone should have at least five, like I have, which is why I am willing to sell a few of mine! -
@rjkossman go see your local tech. I’m pretty sure Allied makes a part that will work, but they only sell to shops.
