My dad's cabin cruiser made it into a local book last year. It wasn't so much about the boat as the guy who built it who was a one off builder with a design engineer background. He was probably the most educated pleasure boat builder in Mobile in the day. However, at the time he built my fathers boat he was still working out of a shed in a back yard. He later had a relatively sophisticated boat yard. This was in the 50's...although the author says 40's in her text. Probably about 1953 or 54. The biggest thing I remember about it was that a guy wanted to swap my father a lot on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay for it at one point. My father almost did it. Biggest mistake he probably ever made. Now lots on the Eastern Shore go for serious money. That boat has probably been land fill for decades.

To help keep us on track, can anyone identify these two species of fish:

And here is another one to keep us on track. Does any one have an idea as to what this is? If you can get all three correct, the two above as well as this one, and label them correctly, you are not only an expert fisherman, but you should be classified as a โ€œprofessionalโ€ on this site.

Close, but not the answers I was looking for. Due to the overwhelming response to this quiz Iโ€™ll give the group 24 more hrs, and then post the correct answers if the mystery is not solved by then.

Needle nose gar or like Tobylou mentioned, a "trumpet fish".

The lure looks like a common Rapala crankbait, that everyone has in their tackle boxes.

1975 Olds Ambassador Cornet --> my new/used eBay special. Sounds great!
2018 Regiment WI-800 Bugle --> my inexpensive Chinese made bugle from Amazon.

I just want to know why you need msg in your beans. I just add mustard, ketchup and molasses. If you haven't tried it this way, you don't know beans.

I know everyone is waiting with โ€œbated breathโ€ for the answers of the above fishing / trumpet quiz so here are the answers to part 1:

                            1. Cornetfish
                            2. Trumpetfish

Wow... That was great trivia! I never heard (nor seen) a Cornetfish or Trumpetfish or anything like that. Plus, I have many many Rapala lures and didn't know Shimano made one called Flugel Flat 70S. That's really cool!

Just bought a DVD on "pro" Walleye fishing. Found it for $1 at the local thrift shop.

If any of you wants it, I'll ship it to you for $5.
