I played in this production with about 150 singers and a 50 piece orchestra at our church. Dress rehearsal was a week ago Wednesday, one performance Thursday, one Friday, three on Saturday, a church service Sunday morning, and the last performance Sunday night. About 10,000 free tickets were distributed, and the sanctuary was packed at every performance. BTW, the orchestra played 3 pieces as the crowd was coming in that aren’t part of the recording.

        Congratulations Dale!

I am playing the Christmas Eve service with the Lutheran Church in my city. It is just me and the organist (an amazing 4 keyboard instrument with a very big sound). These our the songs we will be playing:

        In Dulci Jubilo
I Am So Glad Each Christmas Eve (Jeg er så glad hver julekveld)
Angels We Have Heard On High (Descant Trumpet)
Angels, from the Realms of Glory (Descant Trumpet)
What Child is This? (Communion Hymn with Harmon Mute)
Joy To The World (Descant Trumpet)
For Unto Us a Child Is Born G.F. Handel (Descant Trumpet - which has the last 3 measures toggling around the E above staff - a rather vociferous send off!

I am much grateful for the Dayton Musicians Union (AFM) that has contracted me with this performance now for the 6th consecutive year.

I played a Christmas Concert at a local club 2 nights ago where one of my big bands performs every 3rd Thursday evening. This is a picture of the band:

And this is the picture looking in the other direction at the crowd (dancers). The place was packed and full of Christmas Cheer (in part due to the fact that the venue has a very full service bar). One of the patrons actually gifted me with a "Bee's Knees" during the break!

In fact, here is a close up of me "lit up" after returning from the break:

I’d like to hear any recordings of either of the two gigs you mentioned if you get the chance. Your playing is always great!

I got sick over Thanksgiving and had to cancel a couple of my holiday gigs, got well enough to play the rest and immediately came down with Covid. Thankfully I have a couple of weeks to get back in shape before the next gig, an overnighter performing and doing clinics for a college jazz fest. I got asked to play church gigs for Christmas Eve and day, but I price those high in the hopes they will look elsewhere. If not, I at least get paid what I am worth!

              Daily players: Adams A1, A4LT, F2 flugel , CN1 cornet.
              Schagerl Raweni
Puje 3am(named for me), Benge pocket
              Schilke P5-4, C5L
              Yamaha 761 Eb/D
              Lots of vintage toys

I came down with something the 2nd day after my marathon gig was over, and am still not well. I suppose I caught it being around all those people for 5 days in a row. Luckily, I don’t have anything to play for till after New Year’s Day. Hope you have a fast recovery!

The only thing I did at Christmas was to tag round the rehab clinic with the local ruffians (officially "students of logopaedia nd music therapy")... a four-part choir that managed to sing at least nine parts in three different keys, two guitars that had not been tuned to each other, a mouth organ and five recorders... I am really ashamed to have been seen with those...

I commend you all for going out and participating in these events. Wether a paid gig or community participation. As long as you enjoyed the experience is all that matters in the end. I've been so busy with work I've put any playing aside. I'm saddened to my core for that and I am proactively looking to change that this year. Hope you all had a great Christmas.
