Silent weekends

Where is everybody on Saturday and Sunday ? It is rare to come here on the weekends and find a post of any kind. I have to go to Trumpet Herald on Saturday and Sunday where there is lots of activity if I want to get my weekend fix.
I don't know why it is this way here and right now I don't have any suggestions, but I just wanted to point out that there are a lot weak areas at TB, especially with serious discussions about pedagogy. New young players and comeback players are plentiful at that other site, but sorely missing here, probably because they are seeking help and can't find it here.
Say what you like about Dr. Mark, but when he was a member, there was a lot of posts in the pedagogy department. We need experienced members like Mark to get things going or we will never see any growth.
Of course, this is just in my humble opinion.

I would agree that Dr. Mark was a prolific, knowledgeable, instructor, and valuable contributor.

I agree with all of these. He was also an angry man and was taking it out on several members and with painful aggression. I also noted we lost a lot of members during his attack phase.
I think the decision by our monitors to ban him from the site was appropriate and respect their decision. Hopefully, with GeorgeB's input, we can move forward on pedagogy, and I would hope Valgano Brother would take the lead as he is an expert in this field.

@dr-go
Yeah, I would really like to see Valgano Brother participate more, and more from Robin ( Rowuk ), and younger guys like Patrick Gleason ( trickg ) who can speak from experience would definitely produce a stronger pedagogy section.I tried myself several times to post things that would fall under the pedagogy banner. They would start off well but would slowly become victim to too much humor that was often totally unrelated to the subject of the thread, and interest would die off.

Pedagogy can be a difficult topic to describe online. It’s pretty normal in these forums to see someone asking a question that would be better answered in person, and getting a lot of varied answers, most making little sense. Theory questions are easier to answer on a forum, except that I see a lot of people here posting about how they don’t think knowing it makes one a better player as soon as someone brings it up. If you are my student, you are learning theory while you play, because understanding what you are playing makes you both a more musical player and a better sight reader. If you are my student, though, you are also very lucky because I don’t take many!
As for our “former user”, I don’t miss him at all. He seemed to post a lot just to feel superior, and wasn’t always right about it. I do agree, though, that too many useful threads devolve into stupid humor, which is too bad. -
Yes, pedagogy can be a difficult topic. But it isn't always a place where expert advice is the only advice. I have picked up helpful tips here and there just by hearing how one player dealt with a particular problem. Sometimes it is just one person's way of doing a thing that can help another player who has been dealing with a playing problem.
I'd just like to see more interesting conversation centered around the playing of the instrument. You never know, we just may learn something new. More of this kind of thing could bring us some new members.
Now, wouldn't that be nice ?

Unfortunately, Dr. Mark was just too aggressive. I wonder if he comes around from time to time...I don't believe his IP was banned, just his account.
