3rd Valve for Olds Recording Trumpet?
-
Hello everyone! I am looking for a missing part for my father's trumpet, and it's proving difficult to find. I should note that I know nothing about trumpets.
It's an Olds Recording trumpet from 1941-42. The trumpet is missing its third valve slide (the entire removable section). I'm told by the local shop here that the bracing is a sheet style, rather than barrel/post (again, I have no idea what that means).
If you know of where I can find this piece, please let me know. I appreciate any help, thanks!

First of all, if ordering that third valve, make sure you get it for the LA (not Fulerton) production Recordings. I own both and it is very clear the valves and casings are very different and changed over the production years.

@Dr-GO looks like he’s looking for a 3rd valve slide, not a piston. Might be difficult to come by, though Allied might carry a compatible part. Only a shop with an account number can order from Allied, so check to see if it’s possible to do that.

Can BAC make replaceable part?

That slide also has linkage attachment points for the trigger. Not just a simple U-shaped slide.

Need to see a photo showing what actual part is missing. OP says valve then slide. I have a Recording on my bench at the moment, this model has a mobile slide plus a dump slide with water key, Do they want the trumpet to just play or do they want it "restored". Any competent tech can come up with a solution; compatible crooks and slide tubes are available, it is a case of machining and fabricating.

Oops.. my dyslexia is kicking in. That slide does have a screw trigger mechanism so would not be as easy as a fix as sure.
