@Niner Not his big band. It was in the 60s. Ozzie and Harriet owned the rights to an old Broadway musical named "State Fair." Their semi-retirement gig was to tour the country every few years doing revivals of "State Fair."

Ozzie Nelson. (Harriet's husband, Ricky's dad.) He gave us the worst ass chewing of my entire life, one time. IRL he wasn't the laid-back character he usually played on TV.

RE: What Is Your Favorite Version of the National Anthem?
My favorite version of the National Anthem is......
Oh, wait. That's one of the songs that maybe SHOULD be the national anthem, not the one that actually is the national anthem of the USA.

RE: Repair wooden cases?
@grune Try a luggage and shoe repair shop. They exist in most cities. A local shop like that repaired one of my older Bach cases.

Eb/F Alto Trumpet Mouthpiece?
So, I bought a Getzen Eb/F Alto trumpet, just because it was really cheap and unusual. I will probably never play this horn for anything, but it's not quite lamp material, either. The valves work well and it plays OK, except the consistency of intonation is terrible in the lower part of the range. I don't really know where one would play one of these horns, except maybe in a drum and bugle corp to cover the french horn part of the range, or something like that.
My question concerns the mouthpiece. The receiver seems to take a standard trumpet mp shank. I have tried the horn with the largest mp I have which is a 1.5C, and it doesn't seem quite right. Any suggestions for what mouthpiece might work for this thing?

RE: Soap Bubbles
San Franciscans and San Francisco tourists will probably remember this guy. He was around for years.

RE: What Is A Good Practice Routine?
- Warm up with long tones and lip slurs. Start at C5 and work up and down.
- Do one of the lessons from "Mitchell on Trumpet." I'm currently on Lesson 66. "Mitchell" is great because each lesson contains items for range, endurance, flexiblity, speed, tonguing, and challenging key signatures. And the lessons get progressively more difficult as you move through the series.
- Play an etude such as one from Hering "Advanced Studies..."
- Rest
- At another time of day, work on pieces for upcoming performances.
- If there are no upcoming performances, just try to play musically from whatever source seems right.

The only time in my life I ever saw a 100% total eclipse.
