So many people have posted insulting things,
I completely regret having created this thread
that gave them a forum to vent.

Just an idea. Maybe something so intimate and potentially prickly as discussing someone's personal God shouldn't be done in such an open forum for to do so comes the risk of one's feelings getting hurt either intentionally or unintentionally. It takes a very thick skin to discuss God on an open forum.

      My feelings are not hurt.

Before I retired and was physically disabled,
I served 2 years as pastor of a church among nice people
and 10 years as evangelist among vicious people.

My mistake was thinking that everyone here would just read my request and keep it in mind if they felt led to do so.

I honestly did not expect anyone to be snotty.
I honestly did not expect anyone to post replies at all.

For 10 years I expected it from anti**********
but I did not expect it from friends here.

      I blame myself.
I opened the door and they felt free to do it.

I hope the administrator either locks this thread
or, better yet, deletes this thread.
I don't want to be the source of antagonism here.
I'll leave permanently rather than be the source of antagonism that ruins the site for everybody.

When I was still working, one of my friends was the maintenance person for the same store I worked in.
A woman in one of the departments was never comfortable with the temperature. It was either too hot or too cold. She constantly demanded, pleaded with my friend to do something about it......every day. At least.
One day, he decided to surprise her and showed her that he had installed her own thermostat, right there on the column near her work area. See, he said, turn it this way and it will get warmer, and this way, to the left, it will get cooler, just like that!
      She never, ever, complained again.
      End of story.
Not so fast, there. He, my friend, never wired it to anything...and when she retired, he gave her the thermostat in a box with a bow on it. Here. Now you can be comfortable wherever you go, he said.

      I love that story !!!!!!!

I wonder if it also explains how those little pills do so much for men...

Here's another one, if you please.......RSBUCKSCTYFARM.jpg

I am still stunned by how beautiful those paintings are.

Some of them remind me of being on my grandparents' farm 60 years ago,
a time and place that I miss so much it moves me to tears.

So your paintings not only speak to my eyes,
they even speak to my heart.

I seriously thank you for blessing me with a few moments of wonderful memories that your paintings induce.

Well, there are some prayers or prayer requests that wouldn't be appropriate for this kind of site because they express the primacy of one particular religion or derogate others. But there are more generic prayers that, while not everyone's "cup of tea", should not be overly offensive.

But my religion is the only one that is right.

Never-the-less, in deference to the rules of this Web site,
I will refrain from quoting from the New... Oops...

I frequently reminisce about my very earliest memories,
when I was about 5 years old in 1961.

We got a fancy new console TV.
      Black and white.
      With a remote control !!!!!!!!!!

But you would have to see it to believe it.
There was only 1 button on the remote control.
And when you pressed that button,
a motor actually turned the dial.
You could see and hear the channel dial turning clock-wise.
      click-click-click-click.
And it could only get you one UHF station.
You had to go to the TV and turn a separate UHF dial by hand to the UHF station you wanted.
So that when the remote went to channel 11 then 12 then 13 then UHF, that would be the UHF channel yu would get.

It was like the cheesy equipment you see on old episodes of the original Star Trek.

But we had some of the best TV technology of the time !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • no prayer requests allowed

The heading for the Lounge section says that no religious posts are allowed.

I will obey that restriction by NOT posting my prayer request.

Although I have much studying to do for my FCC exam on September 7th,
and I am afraid that I won't remember everything I need to know,
and I am afraid that I won't be able to find transportation for me and my electric wheel chair to the FCC testing site
for the test at 9 am to Noon on September 7th, which is a Saturday morning,

I will respect the prohibition against religious posts.

So I will refrain from posting my prayer request,
even though passing the FCC exam on September 7th means so very much to me.

      *** Bless.

I think we have folks from the Netherlands, Austria, Australia, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Nigeria, Canada? I am not 100% certain of all of these.

About 5 years ago I showed up for a doctor appointment.

I was taken to an examination room.

      The nurse said,
"The doctor will be with you shortly."

I laughed at her choice of words,
because from previous visits I knew that the doctor was 7 feet tall.

      She should have said,
"The doctor will be with you tally".
