I have two Technics turntables. One in the music room and one in the house. Too many LPs to afford to replace with cds.

RE: What Is A Good Practice Routine?
Morning workout: I start out with arpeggios going from first space f down to pedal f. I go down chromatically until I reach double pedal C. Then I do the B.E. roll out exercises
Next are lip bends. Second line g tongued twice soft, then long note bending down 1/2 step and back up several times. Proceed chromatically up and down by half steps until I reach 3rd space c and low c. Then I do another lip bend exercise starting on low c and bending down by half steps (all played open) until I reach low (pedal) f. I do this over again down by half steps until I get to low f#
Next are B.E. exercises. Crescendos, Tongue on Lips, Roll ins, Advanced Lip Slurs (these are 4 separate sets of exercises)
After this I play flexibility exercises starting on low f# and slurring up to top space f# using 1-2-3 fingering and back down twice. I proceed up chromatically as far as possible. I can generally get up to F and sometimes F# and G above high C.
After this I play the scale exercises in the front of Walter Smith's "Top Tones for Trumpet" I can usually play these up to an Eb.
After this I take a break until about 10pm. Then I loosen up a little bit and either go through the sets for the next gig or practice improv for a while.
I apologize if this is overly detailed. I am trying to improve my range and endurance as well as get better at improvising. I am an amateur player but I gig a few times a month in a rock/funk band, a swing big band, or a jazz quintet.

RE: I don't know what that is, but I want one!
It is really conical like a flugel, but it is longer. Quite a bit longer. Look at the length of the valve slides.

RE: Olds Pinto?
@N1684T said in Olds Pinto?:
Agreed. Big clue is Olds Pinto used a plastic valve block;)
During the late 70's I made my living as a full time repair tech at the local music store. I saw quite a few Pintos and its cousin, the Reynolds Ranger. They did not have plastic valve blocks. They were brass valve blocks coated in a thick plastic. They could be taken apart without a torch, and the valves were interchangeable. And they sucked big time. But they were nearly indestructible.

I really love Matrix. What a band. I saw them at the Wichita Jazz Fest in the mid 1970s. They were amazing. At the end of their concert they made a big deal about their soundman and how a sound man can make or break a band.
This inspired me to search for them on the interwebs. I was surprised at how many albums they put out. Guess I'm gonna have to warm the old credit card up.

RE: Looking for a part
I was mistaken. The instrument is the P-24G, with the larger diameter rotary valves.

Looking for a part
Sorry this an off topic post about trombone. I am searching for a slide receiver (the female part of the bell section that receives the slide section) and lock nut for an S24G George Roberts bass bone. I have emailed BAC a month ago and have not heard from them. I have checked with my local techies and they have no ideas beyond contacting BAC. I stumbled across this instrument in trading instruments with a friend. My nephew LOVES playing bass bone but is a band director in a rural community in north central Missouri with a new kid and won't be able to afford one any time in the near future. I want to be able to give him this horn but I have to get it playable first. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Is this the World's Brightest Trumpet?
My Doc Severinsen Getzen from the 1980s was really bright.

RE: Is this the World's Brightest Trumpet?
I don't think the 40b is really bright. I can play it and make it blend. But it is definitely the loudest horn I've ever played. I remember playing a rock gig and I could hear my live sound bounce back off the rear wall louder than the monitors.

RE: Rock, Pop, Classic 70's "Horn Bands" from back in the day?
Not from back in the day, but a recent horn band called The Strike. The song is "Atom Bomb". Nice horn feature on the end of the tune from about 3:20 to the end.

RE: Set lists
@BigDub I got an iPad a couple of weeks ago. I'm still working on getting everything into ForScore, but it helps a bunch. Now I don't have to carry 3 large books with me. Just an iPad. Okay, truth is I'm old and don't trust technology. I still keep the books in the car just in case something goes wrong with the iPad. But it is a lot easier anyway.

Born, raised and plan to die right here in Cincinnati Ohio
What part of Cincinnati? I grew up in Mt. Healthy.
I also spent several of my early years in Mt. Healthy. Back when they had electric street cars. From there we moved to Northbrook, which is very close to where Northgate Mall is now. From there we moved to Cape Girardeau, Mo. I then moved to St. Louis, Mo, then back to Cape, then to Denton, Tx, then to Potosi, Mo, then to the Nashville Tn area. (actually Clarksville.
