    • Eugene Blee's Flexibility Exercises

Dr. Go posted the following exercises but they were not so clear. I have redone them for anyone who wants to download them. And, frankly, I need the practice getting back into processes like this. Well, they actually go in this order: Post 2, Post 3, Post 1.

    • Amazing lunch conversation

What a coincidence, wow! I was eating lunch with my son and an elderly man joined us. It turns out that he was in the Army in the Philippines in 1941. When the Japanese took over the islands, he, with another 300 men, escaped into the jungles where they survived a couple of years until the islands were liberated.

Not only that, he saw the T-shirt I was wearing from the Umbria Jazz Festival and said he goes to the Elephant Room, an Austin jazz establishment, once a month to listen. If that wasn't enough, one of his high school buddies was Stan Getz! Who would've known. A walking piece of history.

Gad let's hope he doesn't have a nose for it. =:0

Bundy used to be a big brand. I can remember looking at Bundy ads routinely in magazines.

As far as blood pressure goes, a little exercise goes a long way...

That's why I channel search so often. Really works up a sweat.

@GeorgeB said in Busy June and July: > @Kehaulani, There are 2 pending outdoor concerts in late August. One is pretty certain and that concerns me a bit because we can get awfully hot around here in August.

They can get to be a challenge. The one I referred to in Palm Springs, most everybody's shirts/blouses were 3/4 soaked through before the first tune was over. Probably the dumbest gig I did along those lines was in a mall parking lot in the middle of summe in L.A. No cover and no audience. They were smarter than to stand on hot asphalt in the blazing sun.

Oh. Is that why the majority of my ads are for Eastern European girls looking for a good time!? 😀

It bothers me the most when I hear libtards who have journalism degrees say it. To be fair, hearing a libtard say much is irritating enough in the first place.

I'm not sure that speaking mockingly of people who have opposing political POVs is very constructive, liberals or conservatives. That lumping of people into either/or is part of the problem, today.

Keeps you off the streets. 😈

Summer jobs can go from the sublime to the barely tolerable. I've done well-attended and relaxing concerts in southern California to 110 degree temperature in a Wenger enclosed, portable stage, in the summer in Palm Springs. The former was always a joy. The later, hell.

In your case, all those jobs are great to have. Good goals (concerts) to aim for. Congrats.

      And what are we discussing?
I agree that the transition has been smooth. But, if I were an advertiser, I would be looking to advertise to potential buyers. What are we tuned in to so far that would attract such an advertiser?

"There's" is so rampant there's almost no point in trying to mention it. Nobody's listening or cares.

"There is", is singular. "There are" is plural. "There's" is singular, not plural. English 101.
Ex: There's 20 cars in the parking lot. No. There are 20 cars in the parking lot.

      Geez.

    • RE: Stroke

I am really sorry, Amzi. I hope you continually improve.

To qualify what I am saying, I have had two major strokes and several minor ones. My vision's impaired, I have some physical coordination problems, am wheelchair borne, and have trouble with concentration.

Probably a big thing you will have to deal with is patience. One just can't do what one, formerly, could do and it's frustrating and depressing. For example, I haven't gotten better than Lesson Seven in Harold Mitchell's Book One (Beginner). By contrast, I could, formerly, play in Book Three with a range of Double High C.

I would say, one thing that might be critical to you is to get good and consistent physical therapy. And listen to your therapist.

Amzi, you might not recover at a pace you want. For those of us that had former lives being goal-oriented, it's a major paradigm shift is to go from blazing towards an end goal but to become more aware and engrossed in the process. You may have to go from practicing to play the Haydn to practicing for the sake of practicing.

At any rate, patience and optimism. Good luck.

    • RE: How many measures on a tank of air?

Oh, come on. The OP is a beginner looking for a, or some, tips on his next step, not a profusion of tips he might not use for even years.

Doodlin', it's about the music. Mark the phrases and breathe when one phrase ends and the other begins. If you can't last that long, then find a logical, musical, place within the phrase to breathe. Be sure to be aware that bar lines do not necesarrily define the phrases.

Ref. "Dr." Mark's post - Is that language really acceptable on, what is hopefully, a forum which offers information to all ages?

Mod/web master: Just a suggestion. I would consider editing the post.
