I share getting the feedback with Robin.
But, for me, I really don't care about the technology unless there are tangible enhancements to the horn's sound and playability, itself. Be interested in the feedback.

RE: Cichowicz Flow Studies as warm-up
For those who would like them or are just curious, here is Cichowicz' concept of "moving long tones".
Play as connectedly and smoothly as possible. Constant air flow. Each line is to be played progressively down in half-step valve combinations, i.e. 0; 2; 1; 1-2; 2-3; etc. Of course, when you play higher, appropriate key-related fingerings apply.
Don't attempt to play all at once, they are progressive, i.e. play first line only, then second line only, etc. Strive for a beautiful, lively and musical tone.
ps. actually, they are in C Major and the F# is a chromatic neighbor tone . . I'm just lazy.

RE: How do I PM someone?
Thanks, BigDub, that did the trick. I appreciate your taking the time.

RE: The new Martin Committee "thread" from a TM emigrant
A question about models - I've seen Committees with trombone styled spit keys and third valve finger loops, and conventionally configured keys and finger loops, yet they don't seem limited to only two periods of time or model. Does anybody know when there was one style and the other and if either style signifies anything, like (ex.) conventional = large bore or something like that? Thanks

RE: Did anyone made a copy of "The Circle of Breath"
Seems to me. I'm not sure that is the goal as much as part of the process and an end effect. Might be a matter of semantics. What I take away from it is a way of visualizing the use of inhaling and exhale in a continuum (cycle) that avoids a stop and start concept of breath use.

RE: Did anyone made a copy of "The Circle of Breath"
That's what Yogic breathing is all about - to prepare the mind for relaxation and meditation. If you look at it from a different angle, basic Buddhist meditation is concentrating on your breathing. The use of breathing methods can have many goals, but basically, that's it.

RE: RIP Trumpet "Master"
Absolutely no disrespect or dismissing this concept, intended; a valuable contribution and a clear way of expressing it.
Wonderful to see a post from you, Robin, and I hope it won't be the last time. -
RE: Olds Special Cornet PICKUP ONLY! (not close to me)
Why the detailed shipping info if it's pick up only?

RE: Purchased Olds Super.. cracked bell rim, no ring when flicked
If you don't know horns, do not mess with it, yourself.
As far as getting your money back, unless the seller is a good guy, you won't. Legally, it was bought as an "as-is" sale. Legally, unless you can prove fraud, you own it.
But on a larger scale, since you're a rank beginner, will getting a newer horn make a difference?
My advice would be to work using your present horn until you can actually feel and hear an improvement from the horn you now have compared to another one.

RE: Interesting composition tool: Impro-Visor
I'm not aware, either, of an improvising feature in BIAB that will construct an improvisation in accordance with a given melodic curve, although it certainly does have a feature that produces composed improvisations. I've, frankly, used it in a pinch.
Regarding Impro-Visor's ability to identify passing tones, non-chord tones, chromatic notes and other melodic functions, to be blunt, the ability to do those things without technological help, are part of basic musicianship and you need it for future, spontaneous work anyway.
I'm not saying that there might not be some things that some readers might not find interesting. Just pointing out that these shortcuts have little practical use in the long run.

RE: Interesting composition tool: Impro-Visor
Thanks for sharing this with us. On a closer look, though, I don't see where this does anything that Band in a Box (BIAB) can't do. BIAB might cost but it's had almost thirty years to refine and has a lot of tools. IMO, BIAB is well worth the extra cost.

RE: Increase high range by 4 notes in 6 weeks?
A little disrespectful. perhaps, but Tim Went on Trumpet Herald is a regular contributor who has a ton of Broadway-type shows and is willing to give advice about playing shows. Nice guy. His pseudonym is trpthrld. As an afterthought, John Mohan is an experienced show player, on TH, also.

RE: Buy your horns here, not there!
I know the aim of this thread is personal (hence credible?) experience-based recommendations, but I was wondering if anyone's seen this list. It's a little dated and I can' endorse some, but this list might help someone:

RE: Increase high range by 4 notes in 6 weeks?
I'm not going to say it won't work for someone else, but if I free buzzed an hour a day, my chops would be inflexible, even somewhat hardened, and it would definitely work to my detriment.

RE: Increase high range by 4 notes in 6 weeks?
I would also say it's an open-ended question. Personally, I would concentrate on Maggio for that goal, but, well, I've already said it.
