    • RE: Is a $280 New Bach Stradivarius Trumpet too good to be true?

As I commented on YT, the piping on the case signifies this trumpet as the Cheddar Cheesy model. The features of this instrument verify this classification.

    • RE: We're off to a good start

Right now most of us have more answers than questions, as we've been around awhile, and there are fewer mysteries to solve. As newer, less experienced players find TB, we'll have more technical chat, and we all can learn from whatever comes up. Also, we'll find things we want to learn more about. It will evolve. What's that rule again?... oh, yeah... patience.

    • RE: Some good...."non-trumpeting" music :)

@ButchA My favorite Pink Floyd album is Ummagumma. My friends and I would go to Pink Floyd concerts whenever they played in our part of the world back in the day. Dark Side of the Moon was the last tour we saw. The stage shows were always spectacular. David Gilmour is on my "Top 5" Rock guitarist list. Jimi Hendrix is the only non-Brit on that list.

    • RE: need perfect pitch to play trombone ?

If you can hear when you're in tune and when you're not and can correct it when you're not, you can play trombone. One advantage to the trombone is that once you get the slide positions down (and unfortunately, they're different for each partial, meaning lots of different, but similar positions to assimilate and reproduce precisely), you can play every note with maximum resonance and not have to lip it in tune. It's not simple, and it definitely is not easy, but the potential is there.

    • RE: Trumpets Made ONLY by Their Maker

@Dr-GO So they contain more water and consequently don't need to be used as often as other types, particularly Amado?

    • RE: Thoughts about mouthpiece placement

The position of most resonance for me is approximately 57.5/42.5 %. I'm not being facetious about this; it's not as different as 60/40 and not as equal as 55/45. Over the years my mouthpiece position has moved toward using more upper lip.

Looks like the Studio may be a copy of the King Master.

The earlier brass/nickel silver Studios aren't but the newer ones with the first valve trigger certainly appear to qualify. Good observation, Doodlin.
