@BigDub Actually it is Sol, not So... from Solfege. https://www.musicnotes.com/now/tips/solfege-what-is-it-and-how-is-it-used/

Oh, say it isn't so. All my life it's been so.☹ 😓 😭
And yet, I knew about solfege, too. I guess I was going by the sound of music version. And is "sol" a needle pulling thread, I ask?

Here's something that should put this in perspective:

Schilke - compact, dense sound. Yamaha - broad and full. Equal in terms of responsiveness and intonation. You seemed a lot more comfortable on these two than the Schagerl/Adams duo. The music just flowed out instead of having to be created or manufactured. It went straight from your brain to this listener's ears; the trumpets just happened to be there in between us, whereas the previous pair required deliberation on your part to achieve the desired results.

Your videos are great, and getting better. 32c6f47a-fcda-4463-a3a1-e009f5e61628-image.png

That having been said, I heard a slightly fuller sound from the Adams and a slightly brighter sound from the Schagerl, although they both sounded slightly bright to my ear. You seemed to play with a little more confidence and ease on the Schagerl, although when you switched mouthpieces, it took you a moment or two to get comfortable, and that made it seem, aurally, that you played better on the Adams.

Comparing them is like splitting hairs, as they are both fine trumpets, and the differences are very slight. I liked your comments on their construction; I found them educational as far as what effects are achieved with different designs and features.

As always, your enthusiasm puts a bright spot in my day. Thank you for taking the time to post your videos!

@Pinstriper Exceptional. Thank you! I hadn't listened to Take Five in a little while, and this time around I heard a similarity between Dave Brubeck's solo and McCoy Tyner's treatment of John Coltrane's Equinox.

While I'm making comparisons, There is no alto sax player I'd rather listen to than Paul Desmond and no tenor sax player I'd rather hear than John Coltrane. Here's Equinox for reference:

Funny how no one is shaming fat old men in speedos.......
Really, though - what’s the problem with old ladies with tattoos? I intend to be one eventually, and feel zero shame about it.

How about any men in Speedos? If it ain't worth looking at, cover it up! Packaging can do wonders for visual appeal.

I'm not a fan of skin tattoos. To my eye they reduce whatever appeal there was to the human form. As for other tattoos...

    • RE: Links open in a new tab?

I found the same annoyance. I would then right-click on the link and select "Open link in new tab." It'll be nice not to have to do that; it's so tiring having to press two mouse buttons instead of just one, plus the loss of time, not to mention the mental exhaustion involved.

FWIW - A dictionary is a catalogue of use, not, a prescription. As common usage changes, so does the dictionary. For example, the term "catalogue" is a secondary spelling of what is now the more-used "catalog".

      Here's an oldie:

In a funeral home, the family of the deceased had brought his blue suit in which to dress him for the viewing. When they returned later, they noticed that he was wearing a brown suit. When they brought it to the funeral director's attention, he said: "Give me a minute." He wheeled the casket into the next room and reappeared a minute later. The family asked how he was able to change the suit so fast. The funeral director replied: "I didn't switch suits; I just switched heads."

What`s the difference between a baroque trumpeter and a dressmaker?
      A dressmaker tucks up frills.

However, maybe if the trumpet player wasn't baroque, the trills would be fixed up!

Means the other side is nothing but brass!

... or this is a photo of low brass.
