      I hate to admit it , Wayne, but back when I was young and foolish at one of my birthday parties, I played The Sheik Of Araby while shaking my booty, wearing only a pair of jockey shorts. This was after quite a few shots of Jack Daniels.
      Honest to God truth. My wife was mortified.

      You guys are mean. So what if she can't play the trumpet. Besides, I wasn't listening, I was L O O K I N G ! An old fart like me wouldn't mind having a pretty no-talent thing like her on my arm...šŸ˜›

      I remember the movie and wondered if I was crazy for liking it. But it was a well done movie and I actually felt sorry for Florence when she came to realize she was not the great opera singer she thought she was.

      For me the very thought of losing my eyesight is terrifying. I have been dealing with Glaucoma for the last 20 years. Drops keep the pressure at an acceptable level, but there was nerve damage to my left eye before they found I had Glaucoma. That damage causes weird things to happen, but I have learned to live with it.

      I have so much respect for you, kehaulani. You have gone through hell and no one should ever have to deal with even an eighth of what you have. You have so much knowledge of music, and I know how much it must hurt to be unable to play the trumpet when things get bad for you.
      I hope and pray that your health will improve enough for you to get back on the horn.

      Good news. There was a post from kehaulani last night at TH. I hope he comes back here, too. I replied to his post but haven't heard back from him as yet.

      @barliman2001

      Wow, that is really something.

      Sessionaire, you have been given some great advice. I agree with others here, You should be giving that treatment serious thought.

      @sessionaire

      You didn't say how old you are. I am 85 and the closest I came to your situation was due to overplaying at a tough concert. The next day during my morning practice I blew a few notes and then after that nothing but dead air. A doctor, who plays in our band, said the embouchure muscles had collapsed. I was told to put ice packs on the chops several times a day and not play for at least 2 weeks. It took another 2 weeks after that for my playing to get back to where it was.

      You case sounds like a muscle tear. Louis Armstrong had that happen to him and had to have surgery. I believe it was a year before he could play again.

      There are a couple of doctor members here who may have some insight into your problem and the knowledge of how to treat it.

      10 years not playing. What a bummer.

      Good luck.

      @mike-ansberry

      Hi, Mike, Dr. Go should be able to answer that for you if he reads this. You can also start a Chat with him.
      The procedure doesn't sound like a lot of fun, but being able to practice will help take your mind off things. Best wishes.

      @newell-post

      I certainly couldn't wear that thing and play trumpet.

      Where I live things are looking up. With a high population vaccination rate we are able play in any outdoor surrounding without masks or coverings for the bells of our instruments. Indoor playing is still a case of maintaining a 6 ft distance from each other and coverings for the bells of the instruments. We expect all restrictions to be lifted in early September, after which we will be doing concerts again.

      We practice every Wednesday evening in an outdoor bandshell situated by a river on a walking trail and have attracted a regular audience. I like that.

      Yes, she is definitely a showboater, and that does get in the way of the music.

      Perhaps in a serious mood, playing some soft ballad, he just may be a decent player.

      Yeah, I've seen this video before. Pretty impressive. That piece of music is hard enough for me to play on one trumpet let alone three. I don't know what kind of chops that takes. As for the balancing act, that is dangerous.
