RE: Pic mouthpieces
Bach 7EW or if you find a good 7E. At one time Maurice André played a Bach 7DW which I have found to be smaller than the 7EW.

RE: Is a $280 New Bach Stradivarius Trumpet too good to be true?
For even while we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.
NOTICE:
This is not speaking of those that are not able to work. It speaks of those who are too lazy to work, which is where communism leads to because there is no incentive to work other than the minimum in order to stay out of trouble. -

Try Stork 7P, if you want to get a piccolo mouthpiece. Not expensive and fully functional.
If one doesn't like the sharp bite on a Bach they should find a Stork to be more comfortable.

@Newell-Post My wife will sometimes refer to a person as Sum Yung Gai.
Who can forget Yum-Yum From Clint Eastwood's "Gran Torino"?

RE: The Seven C's
I have a tape of Maynard playing Double G and Triple C in the same measure. (Ole from live Canadian TV in the early sixties)
I am not sharing this recording. Someone asked for it more than 20 years ago. Maybe my great grandchildren will be able to make money off of it? I could share a little of the part that I am talking about but I have to do my taxes first.

RE: 1953 Conn 80A Cornet

Okay. I like bottom sprung valves. So much less complicated. I can switch them out for the feel I like. And when putting the valves back in the casings, there's no way to get them turned in the wrong direction. Very simple system that works great, for me. My 80A always gets admiring looks from the trumpet playing crowd and they love the feel of the valves when they try it.
You can switch the springs inside a spring barrel with about the same amount of effort and you don''t have to deal with making sure that the spring is lodged inside the bottom valve cap just so. A plus for bottom springs is that spring barrels make a scratching noise if the springs are out of round very much. It takes a lot to for bottom springs to have the same problem. I usually find it to be a real pain trying to get a bottom sprung cap to thread easily.

RE: Trumpeters' Gardening Chops
Do suburban farms count?
I had to chop half of the mint this year. Last year it got a couple feet high and when it flowered there were too many bees right around the corner from my backdoor where my students come in the house.
Don't tell my neighbor, who is going to paint his house soon, that I have an after pressure wash picture of it on an international forum.

How about sticking to an established standard like....
C4 (middle C)
C5 (treble C)
C6 (high C)
C7 (double C)
C8... that's baloney. No trumpet ever really gets to C8.Play too much so your chops swell up and then tighten as much as possible and blow as hard as you can. You can find it. Good luck doing it on demand in a tune and loud enough to be heard.

Do away with Electoral College, and we'll have a true democracy, which is defined by two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner.
Excellent analogy J.

RE: A little humour
What proof do you have that rocks are a certain age?
Evolutionists have been taking their own assumptions as truth and building "evidence" with them for a long time. The New York Times lies consistently. You can't trust it.

One thing that TH has that would help is a vibrant marketplace. How can we grow that?

I probably would cause too much of a stir by posting Calvin the Deplorable cartoons. They are pretty funny though.
