Amati - conglomerate name for a series of small workshops working as a Soviet style company in Socialist Czechoslovakia. Operating under this name from about 1955 onwards, simply continuing to produce whatever instruments the previous companies (like Bohland & Fuchs) had been making since before the War. In the period between the end of WWII and 1955 (or so), some of these small companies simply resumed whatever production they could with the materials and workers available. Usually, these instruments are built like tanks (because you can't produce delicate instruments if your precision tools have been looted by the Red Army - sorry, they called it War Reparations). And development of new things being generally frowned upon in the Eastern Bloc (except arms!), when amalgamated into Amati, they just continued with what they had been doing, without proper quality control or much interest in same, things going from bad to worse. Thus, if you find an instrument that was later marketed as Amati, it is very likely better instrument if it does not bear the Amati brand.

RE: Help me identify this Trumpet: Ciicel Consul
Welcome to TB, Leonardo! The trumpet on the pics has some rather intriguing features - a pinky hook reminding me of early Selmers, but of some Markneukirchen instruments as well, and the octagonal valve caps bring to mind some Buescher instruments as well as the Art Déco instruments of Arigra and the like.
It certainly is neither of these.
You might look up the brand name in www.horn-u-copia.net.
But it is my opinion (fwiw) that it is some sort of stencil instrument and possibly somewhere in the intermediate class - if you are lucky. -
RE: Hello! Welcome to TB, who are you?
@ladonna2 Welcome at TrumpetBoards! We will endeavour to make a musical home for you here. Ask any question you might have (within reason), and have fun playing trumpet!

@j-jericho Might be that the perpetrator wanted to mess around with microtonals...

Need transposed parts for Brahms 4!
Once again, I am calling for this wonderful community to assist me... only a few minutes ago, I got a phone call that I am needed for one of the trumpet seats for an orchestra workshop in Pistoia (Tuscany - Italy) in two and a half weeks. Sheet music only provided there, and in original pitch (E). Not a transposition I want to try out while sight reading. So if anyone has the trumpet parts in either Bb or C - big pleeeeze!!

BITBURG - European Folklore Festival 2023
Once upon a time, there was a Welsh brass band called Coronation Brass... originally convened to play a contest in Malta. Since then, much of beer was drunk, and every year this band convened to play one of the biggest folk music and dance festivals in the German brewery town of Bitburg. It's this time of the year again - calling for CORNETS! It's a fun event, lots of playing, no rehearsals, lots of food and drink and merriment... Participants are supposed to arrive on Friday, 7 July, and continue playing and having fun until the Tuesday morning... *** hotel accommodation (B&B) at a total of around € 200, lots of free drinks and free meals. Contact me or Nick Jones at Coronation Brass on FB.

@georgeb Indeed, Cefalù with Symphonioc Holidays is always a treat. It's a great little town, with spectacular volcanic beaches and a very steep Rock as background, an 11th century Cathedral, no cars - the roads are too narrow - and a plethora of wonderful restaurants. Combine that with rehearsal rooms from the 15th century and friends in the orchestra who regularly meet there... a dream come true.

RE: Moderator absent...
As a few of you may have noticed, I'M BACK. Had a lovely time in Cefalù, with a sold-out concert as culmination. The orchestra was so perfect that with four French horns in attendance, there was not a single misplaced note!! We were honoured by the Mayor's and most Councillors' attendance, and had really frenetic applause and standing ovations. For a really un-Italian programme, that is fairly remarkable.
I've already booked my place for next year, which will put the spotlight on early 20th century music -a violin concerto by Florence Price and Kurt Weill's 2nd Symphony. -
RE: Bots are getting scary
Recent news stories say that during a simulated exercise, an AI-piloted drone, when ordered not to destroy the original target, first tried to kill the officer commanding, and, when it received an order not to, tried to take out the control interface so that there would be no orders any more countermanding the original order...

RE: I cannot find a 28b Connstellation anywhere. Is there a way to "create" one?
@dave-hughes To get a pic into public view here, just open a "reply". and in the first line of symbols (starting B I), just click the second to last icon from the left, called "upload image". The "picture" icon will not lead you to the desired result.

RE: Cataract Surgery
I can't recall whether I answered this question or not; so I'll retry. I had cataract operations in both eyes in 2014, done by a rather eminent surgeon who is a trumpet player himself. He suggested that I continue with exercises like "pencil between the lips" right after the operation, but re-start gentle practicing about a fortnight later.

RE: A little humour
In a small village, the man responsible for cleaning out all the cesspools overturned his cart and was busy shovelling the stuff back when the local parson came along and asked, "Have you had an accident, my good man?" - "No." replied the shoveller. "I'm only stocktaking."

Just came across this short article in a Facebook group normally totally unrelated to brass, but rather to electronic devices...

@jolter The guy is a former lawyer who is now doing this. He bought a couple of houses in French abandoned village Bardou and started with chamber music sessions there, and now he's upgraded to full symphonic. I've known him for a couple of years, and you could not find a nicer organizer. Most competent - as a cellist as well - and always on the look-out for new players. Best possible service, too - no need to bring music stands or lights or anything, as everything in that line will be provided. For cellists and bassists and the like who can't take their instruments on flights, he can provide instruments and only recently commissioned a new double bass from a reputable maker for just that purpose. And it's not only music, either. Every Symphonic Holiday comprises sight-seeing outings, picknicks in lovely landscapes and enough spare time to do things on your own.
