RE: How a dent affects trumpet sound.
@J-Jericho I wanted the dent removed but my tech guy told he said it may cause a hole.I told him to try anyway. When I went to pick up the trumpet he told me he had to put a patch because when he tried to remove the dent it caused a hole. So I figured it's too late to fix it now.

How a dent affects trumpet sound.
I have a trumpet that I use sometimes that has a crease or dent in the bend going towards the bell.So when I play it it plays sharp .It plays in tune when I pull the lead pipe out about almost an inch .I assume this is because of the dent .Anyone ever have this happen? Anthony

RE: Old vintage maintenance.Conn
@Trumpetb I use LaTromba oil #3 it's for monel pistons.

RE: Old vintage maintenance.Conn
@Jolter I never thought it was a good idea for one of the reasons you stated " that dust and dirt particles can accumulate to
the oil.I swab my lead pipe before putting my trumpet away too.Thank you for your reply Anthony -
RE: Old vintage maintenance.Conn

Word to the wise
On a conn of this quality and this age I would pay attention to protecting the lead pipe from red rot.
I dont think this instrument is suffering from this ailment at the moment but conns are susceptible to it.
Regularly running oil down the leadpipe and regular cleaning and maintenance of this part of the instrument should keep this instrument in tip top condition and playing wonderfully for many decades to come.

RE: Jack Shelton
@Dale-Proctor Yes !That's right conjunction junction...I knew a kid in high school that reminded me of Jack was a cool guy never in trouble look like he didn't have any problems was a likeable nice guy type.Anyway I saw Jack Shelton on Merv Griffith one night and they had Jon Faddas on ..so Mr.Faddas plays a solo and all,and Merv was a Jackass that night and turns to Jack and says "How come you don't play like Jon.I could see Jack get annoyed at Merv for that wise remark .Just wasn't nice.
