Hardenberger Charlier Recordings
Here are recordings of Håkan Hardenberger performing the etudes of Theo Charlier. I have put this in the Pedagogy section because I believe these should be a reference for students of the trumpet. Please refrain from frivolous comments.

Just beautiful. I had split screened the score of this second etude against the actual solo, and what came out to me, that was most influential as to his artistry, was not how he played the notes he played (that was amazingly accurate) but the way he used the written rests and pauses and how he made this work with the printed ink. THIS IS HOW AN ETUDE needs to be executed. I encourage all listening to this presentation to watch the manuscript come to life in simultaneous execution.
Totally. Probably a "reference" point for this etude. I bet he did that in one take, knowing what Hardenberger can do.

Upload didn't work Dr. Mark. Are you sure you are doing it correctly?

RE: What happened to Jazz programming?
@J-Jericho said in What happened to Jazz programming?:
To my ear most contemporary music is either a mind-numbing repetitive mantra of a standard rhythm and a prescribed minimum number of the same notes in the same prescribed key, always and exclusively sung by young males whose high voices have not changed into manhood or a Scrabble of notes sung in an endless, random journey to nowhere by a female with almost no overtones in the timbre of her coarse, lifeless voice. It baffles me that there seems to be an endless market for this crap.
That was a very entertaining sentence to read!

RE: First Horns
The Selmer Radial, which I still own, was my first instrument. I very much like this trumpet.

RE: Getzen Club
Getzen cornets are seriously my favorite. Very nice tone and very affordable.

RE: Lip Flexibilities
I would recommend making lip flexibilities a priority in your practice routine. Books I recommend:
Chas. Colin Lip Flexibilities I & II
Bai Lin Lip Flexibilities (forgot the official name, just look up Bai Lin)
Schlossberg
James Stamp No.3+Cichowicz flow studies are great, although they have a different purpose than the above named books.

RE: Did something change?
I run a homestead here. I have goats, a garden, etc...lots to do! That's of course on top of my day job and other responsibilities. Unfortunately, I don't have time to fill this site with content. So...somebody else has to! Otherwise it just stagnates. I'm trying to attract more visitors but believe me it isn't easy.

RE: Did something change?
I agree with what's been said.
All things considered, I'm trying to do my best here. Can't do much about the lack of content (just think -- when did you first sign up for TrumpetHerald? I think it was 16 years ago for me!)
I'll keep the site going indefinitely...but it's up to you to populate it with valuable content.
And sometimes...people get banned for a few days. No need to get so upset about things anonymous people say online!

RE: What is this Conn? Should I purchase?
It might. I'll take it to them to see. Probably a good deal though.
