Since many people have been upset by recent threads (one of which I started), I am seeking input on rules / rule changes to make it more clear what we want on this site.
Please offer your (well-thought) input.

As many of you know, a couple weeks ago, the USA observed Memorial Day. Yesterday, June 6, was the 76th anniversary of the beginning of Operation Overlord, also known as D-Day. Here is a photo that struck me very hard. They look like young boys.
Have any members here served as military musicians, in any nation?
As there was some offense taken by some members at the recent threads, they are all deleted. I am sorry to anybody who feels upset.
This thread is locked because I don't intend to restart the conversation, just to notify the members.

Here is a link to a timely article from today’s issue of The Guardian on this subject:

I have seen several "crossover" artists advocate this.
I keep putting this off, but I will do it this weekend!!
I just need to make the change. I think I can do that tonight.
Is the BPO one of the groups where every member has to "vote" you in?

Actually, it is customary not to mention the orchestral excerpts because the will be announced at short notice without any preparation time whatsoever. They are still an integral part of the audition process. In addition, the audition process at German orchestras usually is a multi-stage one, with only the requirements for the first stage being publicised. As the audition for a solo viola player showed... the orchestra were quite pleased at what the candidate presented, but, having been burnt before, they asked the candidate to play the fast demisemiquaver passage from "the Bartered Bride". And the viola candidate readily agreed, saying, "well, yes, if you've got enough time for that..."
Thanks for the clarification. That sounds crazy.
