By the way, here is a stunning recording of the piece. You will know what I mean when you reach 4:23!

      R. Strauss - Eine Alpensinfonie, Auf dem Gipfel concert no. 86:

How I wish Strauss had inserted a high E there. He expected his 3rd trumpet to play fortissimo G, C & D, surely it would not have been a stretch to insert a 1/2 note E. This bothers me every time I hear a recording of the piece!!

What proof do you have that rocks are a certain age?
Evolutionists have been taking their own assumptions as truth and building "evidence" with them for a long time.

The New York Times lies consistently. You can't trust it.

      Brian,
The exact answer is above my pay grade. I would assume that the level or rock had material mixed with it that could be carbon dated, or else mixed in with other fossils that could be dated. Also the evidence for these ancient jellyfish was found in Utah. I am not an expert in archeology, paleontology, and geology, so I won’t take it beyond the following, but I can say that it has been a few years since the ocean covered Utah. I was just trying to help, because I was curious as well.

I can vouch for that. Man, it is dry as a bone out here. But, we do have some "fishy" artifacts.

One thing that TH has that would help is a vibrant marketplace. How can we grow that?

Well, I can certainly make changes to the software end of things. The thing is, however, it doesn't make a big difference how good the site is if nobody uses it. That's the thing about forums: there must needs be a critical mass of users before it becomes steadily trafficked. We are far from that point.

But, I mean, from a software standpoint, I'm a very good developer. I could make a better site than Reverb. Yes, I said that. But, I am confident in my abilities ;). However, the question usually comes down to: how should I spend my time? Software takes a lot of that.

Do away with Electoral College, and we'll have a true democracy, which is defined by two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner.

I'm not convinced a "true democracy" is the answer.

I seem to remember studying this in school at one point. We read a book where the author described Republicanism as the virtuous form of government, while absolute democracy was the antithesis. Can't remember the author, now. Wish I did.

    • RE: First gig today

I'm grateful just to get out of the house, sometimes. Yesterday, I was bogged down with stress and some buddies invited me to go fishing. Didn't catch anything, but it was such a relief to just leave the house for one hour.

    • RE: Well, old age has finally caught up with me

I learned, recently, that a "heart attack" is different from "cardiac arrest." There are some cyclists who have died from cardiac arrest while riding too hard. It's not like their arteries were clogged with gunk (they were pros, so they obviously ate well), but they, unfortunately pushed their bodies too hard and, just like that, they died.

I just got back from a ride where I pushed myself too hard. I'm learning how to be more cautious and know my limits. Got to be safe out there!

      Yeah. Don't get married.

Sorry, but I couldn't disagree more.

Try bringing the mic closer, like 1-2 feet. You want to pick up as much of the core as possible.

What are you trying to achieve? Also, how far away from your bell is the mic? That makes a huge difference.

I pick it up, put it back down again on a regular basis every couple of years or so.

Once you learn how to "comeback," it's not really that hard. Granted, you won't be winning any auditions, but it's just a process to build your strength back up.

Is this Covid related? Very young!

No. Ryan Anthony had a particularly bad type of cancer for several years.
