RE: Trumpet Board Remote Performance
It probably wouldn't be very hard. Just setup a thread with a link to a free Zoom room.

RE: Lick from Gypsy
I generally disagree with banning people, but some individuals on this site have been over-agressive lately.

RE: New Player has entered the Game - Part 2
I always recommend a qualified teacher.
You can get lessons online if you are not within travelling distance of a teacher.

RE: Getting straight what I can and cannot do
@Kehaulani you certainly seem well qualified.
My post about "graduate school" was more of a reality check for the current generation as to what could (probably will) happen if they enter graduate school.
The market can only take so much saturation of any type.
I also don't subscribe to the motto "do what you love", but rather "love what you do." -

It's fine; they are welcome to put their goods for sale here! The photo does not seem to be working properly.

Thanks for continuing this topic. But please consider that graduate schools are a phenomenon of the USA only. I would like to ask those members who have non-USA experience in this field to contribure.
Please expound as I am not familiar with the situation in Europe.

Should I go to graduate school?
I am posting this here because there may be some student, somewhere in the world who will stumble across our forum with this very question: "Should I go to graduate school in music?"
My answer: No.
Well, maybe. Probably not would be the best answer. There was a time that I considered graduate school in music. I studied music as an undergrad and had high hopes of "making it" in the classical music world. After auditioning for the "big-name" schools like Rice, Colburn, etc, I was not accepted by any and only wait-listed by one, very expensive East Coast school which I shall not name. I then considered a couple of small, state schools for graduate school, but I could see the path those lead to and I jumped ship. At this moment in time, I look back at the wisdom and strength it took me to say no to an idea fixed in my mind for so long.
Why do we focus so much on the negatives of obtaining an MA and/or DMA? It's simple: there are a lot of negatives, or, shall I say, simple realities of life. One does not focus much on reality in the sheltered womb of undergraduate studies, but it would be wise for any student (who has never had to be fully independent or financially support a family) to consider the sometimes harsh realities of life that cannot be ignored for any dream.
This blog shares 100 very well-written and powerful reasons not to attend graduate school.

RE: Covid-19 Closing Down Music Venues
As I'm a programmer and don't gig, I wasn't affected very heavily.
My thoughts and prayers go out to those who are, however. I have a grandfather in his 90s and I hope he is staying safe.

RE: Covid-19 Closing Down Music Venues
In some ways, many view freedom as the right to "do whatever the h*** I feel like". Responsibility has largely been replaced by an overwhelming individualistic attitude.

RE: Re: Caruso on Piccolo trumpet
Why not try it on piccolo trumpet?
If you are trying to get good at the piccolo trumpet, there is no reason not to try all the typical exercises, like Caruso, Clarke, Cichowicz, etc, on piccolo. You just may have to adjust for range considerations.

RE: Seeking input on Rules
I have made my identity known.
https://trumpetboards.com/topic/414/who-is-the-administratorI think, with this account, I will back off posts. I might make another, more anonymous account, to speak my mind.

RE: Seeking input on Rules
Probably. Here's what I'll do. Leave the rules as is. I am going to take a back seat and post a lot less. I will continue to moderate and improve the site.

RE: Seeking input on Rules
I want to be perfectly clear. I started this forum as an idea to replace a defunct forum that many of us used to visit.
I don't make much, if any, money off this site. I just disabled the ads, but trust me they didn't earn much in the first place.
If I ended this endeavor it would not harm my life in any way. Perhaps I made an error; I was trying to do what I thought was right. I admit fault in this.
The canker of contention, pride and division is everywhere right now. Maybe we all just need a break from the damn internet for a while.
