Howdy everyone!

Time for a Driveway Concert!
(please note this is an archived concert from FB but I definitely wanted to share here in case you didn't see it!)
As I was walking the dogs a few days ago I realized my driveway is very wide and would make a great place for an outdoor session. Plenty of room to be very far apart and still play together! I have played a few times for our neighborhood solo as well as a social distancing parade and they are excited for the prospect of a concert!
We’d love for you to tune in live and hang with us for a few minutes! We’ll even have some special surprises lined up for intermission and other times!
We will have a virtual tip jar available as my friends that are playing have been without any means of income since Covid started. Any donations will be graciously accepted.

TA: Tpt/Flugel
Jackie Myers: Piano
Jason Emmond: Bass
Jim Lower: Percussion
Okay it might not be Carnegie Hall but a stage is a stage A few performance notes:
it was the first time running sound this elaborate outside and into an interface so the mix isn't totally spot on but we'll get it next time! The way I captured sound into an interface for a live concert mix is worth a mini-lesson in itself!
Equipment:
I'm using my Gen II Adams A1 trumpet with TAZ-CS mouthpiece as well as my Olds Clark Terry Model Flugelhorn with Clark's old mouthpiece (and my Ta-1 rim)
My trusty shop assistant and pal Kyle Lambert sat in a few times on the show (yes his mic wasn't turned on totally)
Our goofy intermission songs with my wife are part of a series we have been doing for friends on my personal FB page entitled Quarantine with the Austins! I hope you enjoy it!
Stay tuned for another one of these in the future it was very fun!
The tip jar is still active (and the tips go to my band who have been out of work... just put in the comments tip jar or Driveway)
Thank you!
Today's entry... thankful for Riza and Marcus Printup for starting up the Blues Challenge. Hope you enjoy!
Hope you enjoy today's request which was from a friend who's struggling. While it's not my favorite tune I wanted to boost their spirits! Gear on this one is the Coppernicus and a MV3C-FX mpc. Almost no post production on the horn mic except a tiny bit of reverb.
@GeorgeB sure! I did have a wild dream last night that I double booked myself for gigs (and one of them was a mariachi gig!). Funny as my next gig in the books is in October
We are thinking of all of our friends out there who are struggling and wish you all peace! Stay healthy and vigilant!
In an effort to keep me a bit busy while we all figure out the new telecommuting world I have recently started a new project of recording some of my favorite songs. I hope this brings you some smiles and brightens your day a bit.
As always these are first takes. It’s a way of keeping me honest and in the shed!
Here’s Body and Soul on Clark Terry’s Olds Flugel (one of his backups I bought many years ago) and his mouthpiece which he gave me in 1996:
Here’s Con Alma on the Piccolo Trumpet (trying to get a bit less awkward on the piccolo trumpet improvising)
My favorite song of all time is Stardust!
Here’s a salute to Pops with When you’re Smilin’ (on a mpc I made from a copy of Louis’ old Giardinelli mouthpiece!)
How about “The Nearness of You”?
This is in the running for one of my favorite songs ever: Horace Silver’s Peace!
If you have a request please share it in this thread.
The shop is open for mail orders but due to the stay-at-home order in KC we might be delayed a bit in the shipments. Reach out to us anytime if you have questions via phone or email. www.austincustombrass.biz
Corinna, ME A bustling town in the late 1800's and early 1900's then a bunch of the mills burned down. Now it's pretty much a ghost town with little of any industry.
(mods feel free to delete if you find this is not appropriate)
Hey everyone. It's Trent here and I'm wishing you all a wonderful Sunday morning. We just got the official news that KC will be now adopting a "stay-at-home" policy meaning all essential businesses will be closing Monday. While this is going to be a dramatic blow to our accessibility to ship out instruments in this time I am in the shop today working on some contingencies.
Remember a few years ago when I moved the shop from Boston to KC? We were closed roughly for 6 weeks. In this time we still handled all phone calls, set up appointments for the new KC shop, worked with clients on custom builds (both horn and mouthpiece), and basically were not shipping goods as they were being transported from Boston to KC.
Here's the current plan (of course given the fluidity of the delicate situation this may change again):
Our phones and emails will remain open. Our "work hours" via phone will not change and we will definitely have more time to talk shop with you. I suggest anyone wanting detailed consulting to reach out via email and setup some skype/Google Duo/facetime sessions with one of my incredible partners here at the shop.
We are going to be taking our entire stock of in-house mouthpieces back from plating home. This way we can still ship mouthpiece orders. We figure if you are cooped up like we will be for at least a month (that's the current plan in KC until 4.23) why not test out a new piece. Reach out via mpcsales@austincustombrass.com or call 816-410-0826 x700
Custom horn builds can start with all of our makers and we are more than happy to chat with you in regards to that.
For the time being since we literally cannot move our entire shop (trust me that was one nightmare I don't really want to relive) horn sales and accessory sales will be delayed. Perhaps I can get in one day a week to ship but most likely that's not going to happen. We will keep you updated in this matter.
I'm most likely leaving some stuff out as my mind is racing at 150 mph. The biggest thing here for all of you is to know that we want you to be safe... We WILL be here for you once the dust settles and we are here on the phones/emails/social.
Special note of thanks to my amazing team who have dealt with this entire experience with grace and calm. They have relaxed my mind as a small business owner who is definitely concerned with his ACB family's financial, mental, and physical health. I am so lucky to have such amazing partners and friends during this. I am sitting in an empty shop with tears in my eyes as I type this wondering what's coming.
We love you all madly!
Thanks for your interest in ACB! Feel free to email us anytime (we will not be monitoring the PM's here)

Here's your chance to save on an Adams A5 trumpet! This is a fantastic playing A5 in raw brass. It has a new leadpipe and tuning slide (and we'll include the originals as well). There are a few minor bell dings and some work on the bell bow curve, but overall this trumpet is in good condition. This is a fantastic horn - huge tonal spectrum

The OIRAM is our heaviest trumpet. Thanks to the finely balanced distribution of weight, this instrument is a delight to hold and can be played for a long time without discomfort. As a result of its excellent slotting, the sound can be varied to range from dark and smoky to bright and clear. Due to its universality, the OIRAM can be used in combo playing, in a wind band or as a lead instrument. Like the OIRAM flugelhorn, the OIRAM trumpet was designed by the Belgian architect Mario Garzaniti.
ML bore: 11.7 mm (0.461″)
Heavyweight valve casing
One-piece hand-hammered bell
Bell material: yellow brass
Bell diameter: 135 mm (5.319″)!
We just got new stock of the cool Gard flugel + trumpet bags! These bags will hold big flugels (like the F2) and they are backpackable! Super slick offering from my friends at Gard!
Just in this collaborative horn is an absolute magnificent instrument.
Please check out the link for more pics and info on this new trumpet project I am doing with the great guys at BAC!
Have a blast in Anaheim! Sorry I'm missing you this year. Glad you dig the new A1 I am very proud of this new horn
@barliman2001 I agree completely! Thank you for your patience and flexibility.
It will be the first year in about a decade I won't be attending. I have another trade show to work as well as a new recording project that week. My shop guys Kyle and Josh will be going to help both Adams and Schagerl out. I'm sure gonna miss the sunny LA weather.
NAMM is fun! be advised you can't walk in with instruments or out unless you have very special badges like an Exhibitor badge. Bring comfy shoes there's a lot to see (so much more outside of the wind instrument world especially in recording gear, mics, lighting, IPad apps, etc)
Cheers!
