Edit 05/15/19: I believe it's alright now to share that a sale of the company didn't happen and they're ceasing operations. I was informed an official announcement was forthcoming sometime in May.
          It's truly saddening.

As they say, "Nothing resonates like a Kanstul." I'm sure this will resonate poorly throughout the industry.

Mike would be a great person to carry on with that tooling. Better than ending up with some huge conglomerate instrument makers...that’s my opinion at least.

I think that is about to change seeing as most imports come from China.

@Tobylou8 If you are referring to the current trade negotiations, they are temporary and the goals unrealistic. China is a country of manufacturers and America is a country of consumers.

Yep, and that imbalance is what is being addressed. I will gladly pay more for American made goods rather than what is the current state of affairs.

Most won't. Its sad, but true. We have been transformed into a replacement society. No one "fixes" things any longer. Or at least very few do.

It's often more expensive to fix than to replace.

BECAUSE of cheap Chinese labor. Guilty of it myself.

@Tobylou8 - some manufacturing was already moving from China to countries with even lower labour costs (and slacker or non-existent protection for workers). Don't count on a wholesale return of jobs.

Agreed. What comes back is minuscule.
