Key Largo Sunset along US 1:
US 1 is one of my favorite roadways but West is my favorite key... Ab minor isn't a bad key either come to think of it.

When I look at that photo, why do I think of Forest Gump?

I would think more of Humphrey Bogart and the Movie, Key Largo. I took the photo at the Caribbean Club, the location where much of the movie was filmed.

I spent a lifetime, one night, in the Keys!

I fished as my main hobby until my comeback four years ago. Now most free time centers around family and music. I rarely targeted sharks but have caught my fair share. I moved to the Keys to combine work with year round good weather, fishing and diving.

Well, you know how it worked out for Ernest Hemmingway?

Mental stability has an impact, wouldn't you agree? Location would not likely be the reason.
Ernest Hemmingway struggled with depression his entire life. As a result of a plane crash and increase in his mental and physical injuries he was seduced into alcoholism. During this period, he became more ill, got more and more depressed and his life ended with a gunshot. Was it self inflicted? We don't know, but he certainly had the substrate to doing this, but let's please not make a parallel to Key West as a major influence to his ultimate demise.

Envious! Have spent a couple weeks of my life in Key West, one of them below from the deck of the bed and breakfast I stayed at with my lovely wife during a wedding anniversary:

Living in the keys has been a great experience. However, if one has to work, it’s not Margaritaville 24 hours a day, or even necessarily, one day a month. Depending on what you do for a living, the amount of free time you have here is not any different than if you lived on the mainland. As in my case, may even be less. My particular line of work is very unpredictable, stressful, and extremely time-consuming. The nice thing about living here, is that you are already here, so if you have a few free hours, and the weather is cooperating, you can break away and go boating, fishing, or diving. The trade off is thar there are minimal cultural activities, there is relative isolation, and there are hurricanes. When I moved to Marathon, FL in 1979, my motto was, “If you couldn't find it in Kmart, you didn’t need it.” When it came to water activities, due to work obligations, I fished more hours on vacation outside the Keys than I did at home. It was also more relaxing than the Keys because no one could reach me (in the days before cell phones).
What is very ironic is that I am planning on retiring in a few months. Instead of retiring in the Keys, I will move to Orlando as my full time residence and spend summers in Massachusetts. Any return to the Keys after that time will be as a tourist. I will finally be able to go fishing in the Keys without worrying that the cell phone will ring and I will have to cut the day short. -

The Lord is good. And yes I know how to take a joke. I'm Gumby damn it!

On a similar note (chillin' in the Keys), here's where I spent much of my time. The strip of sand. Makapu'u Point.
And doing what? Body surfing.

Ok, now you're just making me jealous that it's not sub-zero temperatures in Key West.

80 degrees

You see, I’m the opposite. I’ll take the freezing/below freezing temperatures of Michigan over 80 degree weather any day.
