How about a "Random Meaningless Image...let's see them string"?

I would think that statement, while not diminishing their influence, is highly questionable.
Lets look at "impact". I interpret this word as having influence or in some way, touched one's life.
Just Steve Jobs alone did this;
1.Co-founded Apple
2.First commercially successful personal computer
3.Introduced graphical user interface (GUI), built in screen and mouse into the personal computer
4.Awarded at least 450 patents
5.Behind the success of Pixar
6.Re-established Apple as a profitable company
7.Launched the foundation for new age products with MAC OS X
8.The IPOD
9.Behind the Smartphone to iPhone
10.Improvised iPhone through features like App Store
And that's just Jobs!
Think of all the software from Bill Gates!
Its really amazing how these two eggheads created stuff that touches our everyday lives. -
Man, Dr. Mark, you're going to imply those technological advancements made within only decades trump the life transforming, wars, philosophies that religious movements have influenced mankind for centuries?
-
I see your Steve Jobs and raise you a cocktail.

I think the only thing implied is that the man has impacted the planet on a massive scale. I suspect the original “Gates and Jobs impact over a religion” was likely hyperbole.
However, I did notice that post said “a religion”... it didn’t specify which religion. So, I guess it is possible! There are so many out there...some of which hardly anybody knows about.

Oh my goodness, That cock (statue of a bird) reminds me of a dirty trick I played on a veterinarian.
In Charleston, WV we had about a 15/20 minute segment on the mid day news called "Ask the Vet" that was broadcasted live without any gap between what the caller says and what the listening public hears.
I called up and said "My bird is having a problem with his pecker"
The newscaster's face turned red, the vet coughed and cleared her voice and asked "What?" I said "My bird is having a problem with his pecker"
The vet asked, "What do you mean?" I said "His pecker ma'am. The thing he pecks people with. The vet then said "Oh! you mean his beak". I said "Yes, exactly" and then she said that birds are a specialty and she didn't have a lot of expertise with birds. Truth be known, I didn't have a bird but I did see an opportunity to make the noonday audience laugh a little. -

Not all religions are centuries old. But, just think for a moment how much those two guys have touched the way we navigate our daily lives. The only thing better known is...….. wait for it...….WAIT FOR IT...………..Micky Mouse, no joke!

I stand in awe at what those info-tech guys have done but . . Buddha? Jesus? Come on.

We seem to have a moderator talking about religion. Just saying. Agree with what he says or not, he is supposed to uphold the guidelines of the forum. Maybe he should read them once.
If you want me to share my religion, I would gladly do so in a private way. That is the intent of the guidelines. -

You're kidding, right? No one is talking up any deity or slamming someone's religious thoughts. The kernel of the statement is the impact of Gates and Jobs is so big on humanity, its bigger than some religions. Not quite sure the reason for the barbed post but it is what it is.
One word that can help the rest of your week......fiber -

There's a gazillion religions out there and according to the rules, we need to steer clear of all of them. The same goes with politics. Let's get back to the important stuff. Random Meaningless Images!

Agreed, let’s get back to “meaningless images” for this thread.

Absolutely meaningless, maybe even incomprehensible, for most. But, at age 67, I am planning on drag racing for the first time with my 2006 Mustang GT this weekend.

The whole idea of this string took a wrong turn early. Bad idea on my part I guess. But ... I have a messageboard that has fallen on hard times because of an update glitch that wasn't made some years ago. No images can be added and there are some error messages that have pretty much killed it. However over the years there have been 1500 or so posts with this very topic and it had the longest run of any other string on the entire site.
The idea was to post some image, often with a quip or message that would strike one as ridiculous and often funny. Sometimes it was political. Mostly it was just crazy.
The smoldering ruins ...but still viewable is here for example:
http://www.milsurpafterhours.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=2341I'll give you one more example.
There comes a time when you have to give up the Daisy Dukes.
I'd suggest that a rule for this site should be that if anyone has a problem with someone else's judgement....particularly a moderator... that the offended party take it up in a pm with the site owner and not blast anybody in an open forum.
